25.01.2022 LOAD MANAGE YOUR INTENSITY While we dont suggest your in-season trainings are as long and difficult as a match, is there a way you can maintain your or your athletes ability to sprint, recover, and sprint again? Given the amount of research showing that practicing SOME high speed running can be protective against injury, its worth consideration.

21.01.2022 DOES YOUR BALANCE WORK LOOK LIKE THIS? Balance training must continue in the return to play phase of ACL rehab! Here Damien is completing sports specific agility training after returning to play after 1 year of ACL rehabilitation at MCAP. Damien returned to play at 100% intensity at the NPL 1 level in soccer. ... ACL rehab needs to be both thorough and tailored to the individuals needs, but it also needs to be transitional to a high performance level. While Damien has completed an excellent rehab, the ACL can still benefit from continuing balance training and agility based drills separate from full team training and games. Why? Because this extra balance work will develop specific joint awareness relative to a specific sport. For context, Damien is completing these full intensity agility drills after competing a 15 min balance program incorporating landing, pirouettes and hopping laterally and forward.

20.01.2022 WAIT FOR IT.... See that arch drop when the foot relaxes! By videoing this to give feedback, it provided a lightbulb moment of understanding ... Will all people with that foot posture have pain? No. But when there IS pain, its worth working on the often-forgotten foot muscles. Here weve got a resistance band under the big toes, to encourage the front of the foot to stay grounded, while the arch of the foot is lifted. This, combined with strength work of the foot and ankle, and LOTS of practice will aim to improve the foot posture during walking.

19.01.2022 With the majority of our clients currently working from home or taking time off from training, our physios have seen an increase in postural related neck/ back pain and injuries from people returning to training to quickly. As you get back into your training it is important to remember that your bodys tissues will unlikely be able to handle the same load it did previously. Your body may have stiffened up or altered its movement patterns due to inactivity. It is important to ensure your body is mobile through the right areas first then gradually building your training load back up. At MCAP we are here to help get your body moving again to ensure you stay injury free

We have 5 of these at our facility so we are never short of spots for you to improve your sprinting technique. #teammcap

While Indya is at 9.5 months of rehab after ACL reconstruction, this drill teaches both the receptors around the knee to function more efficiently to improve joint awareness and therefore have a safer level of balance. 05.01.2022 Lets talk about Romanian Deadlifts Dont get these confused with your conventional deadlifts, as these aim to activate more of the posterior chain (hamstring, glute, spinal erectors). When performed correctly this exercise is a great way to improve strength in the muscles utilised during high speed accelerations and top end sprinting, whilst also building length and strength through the hamstring muscle to minimise the likelihood of hamstring strains.... Stronger posterior chain = faster sprint performance + reduced injury risk Its a big yes from MCAP
