23.01.2022 Eco-anxiety is very topical at the moment...because we are all human!!! This was a lovely blog I read. https://www.pipmagazine.com.au//climate-crisis-mental-hea/
22.01.2022 I love the idea of rescuing food. How is it we throw out stuff when people starve? Here's a great mention in Local Food Network newsletter! A source of free food at Diamond Creek Last week, we reported that The Rotary Club of Diamond Creek has partnered with SecondBite to give away free food every Saturday, from 9-11am, at Diamond Creek Church, 32 Wensley Street, Diamond Creek (opposite Aksorn Thai and the police station). Carol Woolcock decided to take a look: "There did n...ot seem to be eligibility criteria. The staff urged us to take some of the produce as they were having to throw away what was left. As we are self isolating oldies, she collected a few each of nectarines, peaches, oranges, plums plus an onion and red capsicum and a bag of salad mix. I was impressed with the quality and can't believe these were destined for landfill by the contributing vendors." Lets all start asking about avoiding wastage...

15.01.2022 Well, it sure has been interesting times we’ve had. One of the great things about MERLETS has been the ongoing connections via zoom throughout this time. I haven’t been too active with this site as I don’t know about you but e-traffic coming my way has tripled! I’ve been grateful to our community that I’ve never felt truly alone and it has been lovely having the group out there. Great news - some of the restrictions are easing so it means that we are again emerging slowly wi...th trading and our weekday and weekend project groups are beginning - all while social distancing and staying safe with hygiene practices in place. So I thought I would share this lovely online choir song as a thank you to all of our members for just being there for others. https://youtu.be/g7U7iYxHw2Q
10.01.2022 This is a UK based page - but some brilliant ideas here that could prompt a google locally. For example...i hope people are saving their toothbrushes and toothpastes and recycling through Terracycle... interesting that the LETS idea wasn't included either. I've just started the Buy Nothing Croydon (inc North and South), Croydon Hills and Warranwood. Great project. https://buynothingproject.org/find-a-group/
10.01.2022 I don't know about you but the one thing COVID-19 has done to me is remind me of what is important. A time to reflect, take some time to stop, take check and really appreciate what we have now. I also appreciate how we live in Australia and what gifts that brings. as well as thinking of others that don't. I haven't written or shared in a while as I got a bit e-overwhelmed, after a little asking I knew a lot of people feel the same with over communication. So I'll go slow......our network has been great in Thursday chats. Wishing you health and safety, Nicole and the rest of us :-) See more
08.01.2022 I've just written to Maroondah Council about their master plans for Croydon Community Precinct - in it I said Edna Walling would have a fit and I don't want the Truman Show Village in town...but anyway just to let you know if you are interested they have extended the consult until Australia Day 2020...I'm quite sad about the demise of the library as I've sat many a day staring into that lake!!! It's a bit of history even though it sure needs a clean up! If you are local to Croydon, if you haven't already had a chance to have your say, there is time! https://yoursay.maroondah.vic.gov.au/croydon-community-prec
08.01.2022 Looking after community has always been a priority at LETS. Please take care of yourselves and those around you (especially the vulnerable) in these uncertain times. Think critically and don't panic. Calm and measured response is the best way. And you can always be in the garden. Doing stuff or simply enjoying it.

05.01.2022 Food Is Free - Ringwood East. There are sharing shelves located on my front fence line. 27 Rosedale Crescent, Ringwood East. Near the Ringwood Lake Park. People donate their excess food, from their garden and pantry. There are now some extra shelves to donate plants.... You are welcome to take what you can use. It is for all in our community. Our latest donation is a heap of bakery items. See more

04.01.2022 The Buy Nothing project is wonderful...have you found your local one. I just did :-) https://www.facebook.com/BuyNothingProject/
04.01.2022 New year, new hope!!! I loved 2040 and the possibilities...something to hope for. i thought I would share this as a communal sharing and LETS based system is something to continue to embrace, not new technology and all about people. Here's to a wonderful 2020. i know I am a day early and tomorrow i will enjoy! ... Happy New Year! Please do share your hopeful podcast interests...just realising there is a lot out there looking interesting i don't know about!
04.01.2022 We love being local...this is a brilliant website with a wonderful newsletter I look forward to reading in my inbox. https://localfoodconnect.org.au/
03.01.2022 So today is Giving Tuesday - an eco-friendly, non-profit initiative for good. It began as an alternative Black Friday and Cyber Monday...not sure that hit our airwaves. More onslaughts of advertising heading no doubt heading our way with Christmas...love the idea of shopping locally and supporting our local businesses and community. I really enjoyed a subscription to pip magazine one year. I hear they are doing podcasts. ... I liked this idea: https://www.pipmagazine.com.au//earth-advent-calendar-25-/ My friend has a great business re-purposing fabrics into backpacks and bags and creating Cambodian schools. I love social enterprises when I know a spent dollar has wonderful social benefits. https://beekeeperparade.com/ Let me know of good ones you follow :-)
