24.01.2022 Selling a Nikonos III with 35/2.8, Calument CC400 4x5" camera, Nodal Ninja 5 pano head kit, 35mm range finder camera, Olympus OM10, Portra 400 and Ektar in 120, 400ft of 500T (90x 36 exp rolls), Takumar 135mm f/2.5, Olympus 65-200mm f/4, comment for details.

24.01.2022 Official full time start date - 21st of June. I do not operate out of a commercial premises (which cost upwards of $50k a year in rent). This is one of the many ways I keep overheads very low, to be able to offer good prices that are sustainable for the foreseeable long term future. As it stands, all roll formats (35mm, 120, 220, 127) are $3 for B&W per roll, $5 for C-41 per roll, and $6.50 for E-6 per roll this is process only but includes cut and sleeving in protectors. Unc...ut and sleeved is available for the same price, but if you need this posted, the postage cost will be higher. 4x5" will currently be held at $2 per sheet for B&W, C-41 and E-6 currently. This includes sleeved in protectors. I realise this is 1/4 (or less) the price of what the going rate is, but this is based a little above the level of cost, time, and how much can be processed at once as roll film. IE: 4x 4x5" sheets have about the same film area as 1x 120 roll. For this reason, I expect to charge $8 per sheet of 8x10" for B&W, C-41 and E-6 once I get something suitable for that up and running (do not hold me to this pricing!). I came up with the C-41 figure first, and figure that B&W should be more affordable than C-41, and E-6 needs to cost a bit more due to the longer amount of time involved to process it (even though the raw chemistry seems to be a few cents cheaper per roll). All roll formats were then priced the same, so there is no discrepancy between formats, as I want to encourage people to shoot their preferred format of choice. Rather than be pushed into one or the other because of cost, the same reason I want to keep the different processes close in cost to each other as well. I want to offer people the chance to shoot what they want, rather than simply what is the most affordable. On that note, I will try to import and make available some more exotic and difficult to get films. Also, I can process ECN-2, I have the chemistry, and a lot of motion picture film I can bulk roll in 35mm. I would like to send out some complimentary samples for people to play with in exchange for feed back. For people into cross-processing, I would like to point out that ECN-2 is CD-3 based, like E-6 colour developer, therefore cross-processing in ECN-2 would actually offer long term dye stability as opposed to C-41 (both still result in a colour negative). I will try this out when I get more E-6 film (out atm!) and post results. Also I may offer a CD-3 based custom developer for this purpose, so that your cross-processed film doesnt fade and deteriorate. I will also have more details on special wacky out there services, and custom developers, of which I will post results of. For B&W, I process your film as default in replenished Xtol, you can however request a choice of something else, such as stock Xtol (1:0), Rodinal, ID-11/D-76, Aculux 3, HC-110, T-Max Developer, Perceptol, and POTA atm.

20.01.2022 Examples of our C-41 Process.

19.01.2022 Got a call from a Kodak rep today explaining the difference between 5219 (Vision3 500T) and 5230 (just 500T.. "new"). 5230 is basically Vision2 and 5219 is overall better. Eventually I'll get some in and cut it down into rolls.. if anyone's seen the comparison of it being pushed against Portra 400. Considering a roll of 65mm that I can trim down for 120 spooling.

18.01.2022 Kodak 50D (5201) and Vision3 500T (5219) now available in 35mm. Test shots coming soon!

18.01.2022 What is your favourite film and how do you use it?

18.01.2022 In process of moving (nearby) to South Caulfield. Do not send any more stuff to Carnegie address please. In the best case that will end up with extra delay.

16.01.2022 Got some old fogged Vision1 500T which I left sit in Xtol after washing out remjet, now am bleaching in a very cold solution of potassium ferricyanide and potassium bromide to make a low speed high contrast fine grain b&w film.

15.01.2022 Read through this, looks like a good competition to enter (all the conditions look reasonable to me personally), with prizes of having a trip to St. Petersburg. Come on guys, lets get some film shooters represented in the exhibition over there! (Its open to Vic residents only).

10.01.2022 Vanbar Fitzroy has 23 bottles of Adox Adonal (Rodinal) sitting on the shelf.

10.01.2022 Flextight Scanner - All it's cracked up to be, or is it a bunch of hype? (All signs point to being hype, article coming soon).

10.01.2022 Got some market research questions (am going full time with new stuff). Answer as many or few of the questions as you want in as much or little detail as you want. 1. How much film do your shoot in a month on average. 2. Size format? (35mm, 645, 612, 4x5" etc etc) 3. Colour neg? Slide? B&W?... 4. What do you shoot it with? 5. What do you like to shoot? 6. Why do you shoot that with film? 7. Do you shoot professional, if so, is film part of your professional body of work? 8. How long have you been shooting with film? 9. Do you plan on shooting more or less film in the future? 10. Are you happy with local (or even national) analogue support services (including film pricing and availability)? 11. Is there anything you feel lacking that you wish could be improved? (such as services, equipment, product availability, etc). 12. And anything else you wish to add that you feel needs saying or addressing. See more

09.01.2022 C-41 - $5/roll (35mm or 120), $1.60 per 4x5 sheet (min 4 sheets), including web size scans!

09.01.2022 Large backlog of film to process. Current waiting list: 3 weeks. Any film sent after the 18/11/2011 will no longer be offering free web scans at request, it takes way too much time and makes getting film back out the door take a lot longer. It simply is no longer feasible. This will get the time down to with 1 week.... I will add a rush job option at additional cost. Otherwise costs will remain the same.

09.01.2022 One of the rolls I was given to process recently is Kodachrome 200, sad that I have to tell them its B&W process or returned unprocessed.

08.01.2022 I know its not Melbourne.. or even Australia, but this is pretty cool.

08.01.2022 Fuji Reala $6.60/120, Superia X-TRA 400 $6/35mm $6.85/120, Pro 160S $7.10/120, Pro 160C $6.85/120, Velvia 50 $8.40/120, Velvia 100 $7.90/120, Velvia 100f $7.90/120, Provia 100f $7.40/120, Provia 400X $8.40/120, Astia 100f $7.40/120 preorder email [email protected]

08.01.2022 Nikonos III with 35mm f/2.8 - $85, Calumet CC400 4x5" camera with rail and ground glass - $85, paypal accepted.

08.01.2022 Thinking of releasing some thin optical plastic 4x5" reverse gradual neutral density filters that can be cut down to size, and a series of reverse grad ND's for the Sigma 12-24mm rear filter holder. Would be much less expensive than Singh-Ray.

07.01.2022 So PlusTek are getting closer to releasing their new dedicated 120 scanner, so far, it's supposedly has much improved resolution in both optics and sensor (7400 is capable of resolving 3800 dpi already!), and better dMax than a CoolScan 9000. In fact, they state it is designed to best the CoolScan 9000 in image quality. Here is a link to their facebook post on the scanner, please comment on it and like their FB page if this interests you, to show them how much interest there is. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/

07.01.2022 Just go back from Vanbar North Melb, I inquired about Adox Adonal (Rodinal) availability, they said the back order is 6 months, it is essentially a waiting list, if you ever want to get some you need to get onto vanbar and order some so you're on the list, or you'll be waiting forever. They also still got a lot of Sensia 100 (35mm) for $8.80/roll including processing.

07.01.2022 Operating in Carnegie as of tomorrow, will also have a physical unattended drop off box set up soon too.

06.01.2022 Let me know if anyone is waiting on any film to be returned etc.
