24.01.2022 Covid-19 is re-shaping the way our communities operate. I have had a bunch of questions about bushwalking safely at this time. I was on ABC Central Coast chatti...ng about this issue this morning and about to chat with Robbie & Wendy on ABC Sydney -- tune in to 702 AM. I have put together this infographic to help. This is general advice adapted for the bushwalking & hiking context. I know it has been a crazy summer of bushfires, floods, storms and now the virus. I know as a community we will all do our bit. How is Covid-19 effecting your plans? Matt :)

08.01.2022 A fantastic weekend in Warburton with a great bunch of MWWC members. As we walked, we were in awe of the towering Mountain Ash, the fast flowing Yarra river, the majestic Redwood Forest and so many beautiful flowers and fungi. Nature at its very best. Sept 2019

08.01.2022 An essential safety aid - especially for solo walkers. Reasonably cheap to buy also. (and don't forget the first aid kit!)

06.01.2022 A good reminder

06.01.2022 The iconic Jatbula Trail is a 4-6 day backpack which follows a songline (aboriginal route) from Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge to Leliyn (Edith Falls) through savannah and lightly treed sections. Along the way there are pools, waterfalls, rocky outcrops, sandstone bluffs and aboriginal rock-art. Although its hot even in winter (32 degrees C typical), each campsite is near water for a cooling dip at the end of the day. Local wildlife includes kangaroos, water-buffalo, freshwater crocodiles and snakes and there is plenty of birdlife in the treed areas too. Private Trip July 19

06.01.2022 Due to the impact of the global pandemic of COVID-19, all walks, scouts and social activities of the Melbourne Women’s Walking Club will be cancelled from March 23 to June 30 2020, when the situation will be reviewed. We hope all our readers stay safe.

05.01.2022 The Grampians Peaks Trail is an iconic 3 day backpack from Halls Gap, up and over the Wonderland Plateau, over Mt Rosea (Bugiga) then returning via Lake Bellfield. It will be extended to 13 days later this year. It is a superb walk with varied scenery, some rock scrambling, fantastically shaped rock formations and panoramic views. Club trip March 2020

03.01.2022 These gardens have an area of cultivated native plants. Behind there is natural bush for longer walks. Get there now while flowering is at its peak. Club bus trip October 19

02.01.2022 This scenic backpack can be done in full or in part - and you can even incorporate canoe-camping along the Glenelg River - which our club has done.
