23.01.2022 Due to raising health concerns and considering the current uncertainty over the Corona Virus / COVID-19 pandemic crisis, we reluctantly need to postpone the Bihu event on 25 April 2020, in the better interest of health and safety of our community. 17.01.2022 Hello Raij, Hope everyone is doing ok and eagerly waiting for the lockdown to be removed soon. Sadly restrictions has become a part of life now, let's hope we hear some good news from our Premier soon, fingers crossed. Just to let you know Vic Assam has got an opportunity to display Assam and Assamese Culture in Melbourne as a part of Munticultural Victoria. This is not a public event but a virtual audio visual way to present Assam its culture and traditions. Please let me o...r any of the committee members know if you are interested in presenting anything. 13.01.2022 Rongali Bihu Update -3 Friends, Hope you all are gearing up for the busy period leading up to our most awaited Rongali Bihu celebration.... Preparation is going on in full swing and we have been receiving some enthusiastic responses from many of our community members to help us in various activities, as well as, framing and forming our cultural show. Below are some of the main cultural items planned for the evening. 1 Chorus /Songs 2 Kids Dance 3 Kids Drama 4 Bihu Dance 5 Husori 6 Assamese Folk/Classical dance 7 Specials Kids and Adults Fashion show 8 Natak We have individual leads taking care of each item and they would like to kick start the practice sessions pretty soon. If you are interested in joining any of the above programs, please do let us know by reaching out to Bandita (0418960950) as soon as possible. Apart from the above listed items if anyone would like to lead any other group program you are most welcome to do so, just provide the details by 20th March for us to plan the evening accordingly. We would encourage as many of our local talents to be part of the cultural evening, so that we all can enjoy an outstanding show showcasing our cultural richness. There would also be some other surprise elements planned for the evening to keep our audience hooked Lastly, thanks to those who have paid their annual membership and those who have not we would request you to do so ASAP. Bihu fee details as below: - 1.For Members Bihu and all other annual events are included in their membership fee. Annual membership=$160 (Family Regular member) + Parents Free 2.Assamese who are non-member= $35 per person (kids free) 3.Other guests and Students= $15 per person. For guests we will issue event entry tickets and as mentioned in our earlier communication we would need the payment done by guest 5 days prior to the event.
