24.01.2022 Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble. Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt and toe of frog,... Wool of bat and tongue of dog, Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg and howlet's wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble. Cool it with a baboon's blood, Then the charm is firm and good.

18.01.2022 This is not an ARTS V SCIENCE debate. Let us be very clear about this, pitting arts against science is a diversionary tactic. While we argue the value of arts, were not talking about the fact that on NO fucking planet do you grow an economy out of that pandemic by cutting funding to education? While some students like Arts will face increases and others decreases, overall the govt reduces its contribution to degrees from 58% to 48% and student contributions will go from 4...2% to 52%. This is how more student places are funded without increasing govt funding. Basically the government is giving less per student overall. Extra places should mean extra cash. Arts v science argument is to distract us from talking about the fact the government is overall decreasing uni funding. RANT OVER.

09.01.2022 Lots of great work coming out of the kiln.

09.01.2022 Todays studio highlight is of UK potter Chris Keenan @_chris_keenan_potter_ . Although Ive never meet Chris, I would like to meet the maker of the first piece of pottery that started my collection. I first came across his work in an exhibition at The 2007 Aberystwyth Ceramics Festival. A collection of little rocking vessels similar to this image. The piece I bought and then carfully carried around Europe with me for the next 2 months was the very much like the stripy pot in the back. A porcelain pod with a raw rim, soft as a babys bottom, polished and buffed. Manganese stripes with a beautiful celadon blue glaze.

Were lucky to have so much space to ourselves surrounded by heritage gardens just outside our studio to run our very delayed final glaze classes for term 1. The hoops we jump through to keep up with the ever changing guidelines. It was great to have the hum of students back working in the studio. We could get used to this outdoor work space.
