18.01.2022 It may be winter, but heading out to see the sunset (or sunrise if youre willing to brave the cold mornings) is always a good idea. We love these suggestions by Time Out Melbourne, especially Eureka Skydeck 88. 15.01.2022 We Melburnians (Melbournians?) love coffee, and with a coffee habit comes a faded smile Teeth whitening is getting to be a common procedure, and the decision to get it done is very much based on your individual preference. If you are unhappy about the appearance of your smile, teeth whitening can boost your confidence and elevate the way you feel about your self, your teeth and your smile. It may also enhance your motivation for caring for your teeth In terms of safety, ...as long as it is done by a registered dentist using the correct products, yes, it is absolutely safe. We at @melbournedentistry use Philips Zoom teeth whitening, and love how safe and effective it is. Note: Avoid going to unqualified places/salons/shopping centres - at the end of the day, teeth whitening is a dental procedure, and its important to ensure the safety of your health. #MelbourneDentistry #PhilipsZoom #TeethWhitening

13.01.2022 Friday Funnies! We heard one of the best dental stories weve heard in a while from Nikki Foxx, who named her cavity Douglass, and is very sorry to see him go... Read the story below, and please, do introduce us to your cavity if youve named him (or her!) "Once upon a time in 2004, I had my very first cavity. I named him "Douglass", with 2 Ss. Douglass was a great wingman, and posed as fabulous excuse to go see my super hot dentist; he thought Douglass was hilarious.... Time went on, we moved, and Douglass got old and started being a douche. So today, after 12 years, Douglass and I will part ways and he will take his nerve with him. RootCanalDay (I only wish I still lived in PA so it would give me a excuse to go spend a few hours with my super hot dentist.)" : @nikki.foxx (Insta link) #MelbourneDentistry #FridayFunnies #DentalStories

12.01.2022 Sensitive teeth. Headache, jaw ache or ear ache, especially upon waking up. Clenching your jaw when youre stressed out. Does any of that sound familiar? According to Dental Health Services Victoria, bruxism, or teeth grinding is the involuntary clenching or grinding of the teeth. This usually occurs during sleep, but occasionally when awake too. ... If you think you are experiencing this, please book in to see your dentist as soon as possible - they will evaluate if theres been damage, assess the cause and assist in resolving it, and also help in preventive measures, e.g. mouthguards. #MelbourneDentistry #MelbourneDentist #DHSV

09.01.2022 Dental veneers - what are they, and do I need them? Dental veneers are thin facings made of composite or porcelain material which cover the visible surfaces of front teeth - they aim to improve your smile by changing the colour, shape, size, length and position of teeth. Dental veneers may be recommended to correct discoloured teeth, worn teeth, chipped or broken teeth, slightly misaligned or irregularly shaped teeth, and to close gaps between teeth. If you are a suitable c...andidate for veneers, they are a great and quick way to improve your smile - call us on 03 9650 0033 and make an appointment to check if veneers can help your smile! #MelbourneDentistry #MelbourneDentist #DentalVeneers

04.01.2022 There has been a recent update in America that flossing may not be as helpful as originally though! Here at @melbournedentistry ,were still fans of flossing, and heres why you should continue. Its not so much a question about whether to floss, but rather, whether interdental cleaning is necessary and how to best do this. Is dental plaque being adequately removed from all tooth surfaces by your toothbrush with brushing alone? If not, some form of additional cleaning is ne...cessary to reach areas toothbrush bristles cant reach namely those surfaces between your teeth. Interdental cleaning techniques, one form of which is flossing, when done correctly and consistently over the longer term, can remove interproximal clumps of plaque and trapped food particles, to reduce the bacterial numbers in those areas and thereby control and prevent gum problems and the development of tooth decay interproximally. Ask us about the correct flossing method on your next visit, and until then, keep flossing! #MelbourneDentistry #DentistMelbourne #Flossing
