23.01.2022 Can everyone please get on board and sign and share this petition. We have dogs who have not been groomed for months. Since March this year some pets in Melbourne have had little grooming. Grooming is essential for the welfare and health of dogs, cats and their owners mental health as well.... Many breeds cannot go this long without grooming. Elderly and dogs with various conditions require grooming as part of their health care. Matting and lack of grooming can bring a myriad of health problems. In addition groomers often see developing conditions owners have not noticed. Not everyone is capable of grooming their dog and some animals are getting serious injuries. Another aspect is the comfort and joy pets bring to owners and their families. During lockdown many people only have their pets to get them through. Lots of owners are extremely isolated. Owners are also feeling their dogs are neglected, they feel guilty and distress looking at the consequences of a lack of grooming. Many had waited for appointments after lockdown version 1 and then missed having their dogs groomed as they waited for restrictions to ease. There are no known cases of dog groomers providing contactless grooming contracting or spreading covid 19. Let’s face it we are experts in infection control dealing with dirty dogs regularly, we have to take precautions to prevent contracting Zoonosis. During level 3 restrictions groomers across Australia safely provided grooming services with zero contact with owners and covid safe procedures in place. This is now a serious animal welfare issue. Please help us to petition the government to allow contactless grooming to resume.

03.01.2022 A highlight of this event was seeeing such beautiful terrier grooms, almost every competitor was handstripping. This is a huge turnaround from years ago, perhaps a decade or so in Sydney when I recall one groomer handstripping at a Groome event and a bit of a first in the Australian pet grooming circles. Since then we have seen this area grow in Australia both in competitions and in businesses. I particularly love terrier class. Fantastic effort to everyone. ... To Stacey Sullivan who I challenged a few times to step into the ring.... I finally convinced Stacey immediately prior to the event as I’ve been away so much my sisters Scotty was looking like a wooly bear and needed grooming. I could not have thrown Stacey a bigger challenge. Not only way out of shape, Milly is rather the boss in my sisters home and while I have established a bond with her, Stacey had to groom milly while milly did as Scotty dogs do and push the boundaries to see who was in charge. In addition my sister and brother in law were present to add to the challenge. I am so incredibly impressed at Stacey for her patience with milly in the ring and the lovely profile milly now has. Stacey absolutely earned and deserved this place and to go on to win group and rubis. Congratulations to every single one of you
