25.01.2022 Emma, (she/her), Soprano. Singing proud since 2012. Home is my favourite song we've sung at Chorus. It’s very pertinent to us and I remember the lovely Ben Leske conducting it.

24.01.2022 Alex, (she/her), Alto. Singing proud since 2013. MGLC and shOUT are made what they are by the contribution leadership of members such as Alex Callahan. As Assistant Musical Director of shOUT Youth Chorus, Alex is described by shOUTies as both 'the backbone of shOUT' and a 'choreography queen'...

19.01.2022 Happy IDAHOBIT Day! 31 years ago, the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the classification of diseases. In 2021, as MGLC also turns 31, we continue to support and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ communities. May 17 is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia. All people are entitled to respect, dignity and protection from discrimination regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. ... This year’s theme is Together: Resisting, Supporting, Healing! We are called to work together to highlight the plight of the LGBTQIA+ communities who are still suffer discrimination and injustice in their daily lives.

19.01.2022 CATCH US TONIGHT on Kerrie & Dolly

18.01.2022 Mell, (she/her), Soprano. Singing proud since 2019. "I can’t wait until ALL gender identities and sexualities are accepted and welcomed, without fuss or the need to come out or explain oneself. An easy, tiny step towards this would be sexuality and gender identity included in the school sex education classes."

17.01.2022 Three years of #YES.

15.01.2022 Last night, MGLC said a fond farewell to our Musical Director for the past six years, Drew Downing. Drew is best known for producing some of MGLC’s most high-energy shows, including our 25th Anniversary Concert, Boyz II Girlz, Jukebox, Rebel Rebel, Rogers Hart & Hammerstein, and two Christmas Cracker concerts and for taking cheeky selfies with the Chorus. His time at MGLC has left us with a lasting legacy of connections with the broader theatrical community, custom-made cho...ral arrangements and virtual choir videos, and some fan-cy new choralography moves! Drew is returning focus to his work in education and further study. You can keep up with Drew at INSTA: @thedrewdowning or FB: @drewdowningofficial Our new Musical Director has been appointed, and will be introduced soon.so watch this space!

11.01.2022 Today is Intersex Awareness Day - a day to celebrate the 'I' in LGBTQIA+ and shine a light on the diverse lives and experiences of folks with intersex characteristics Check out these great new resources promoting understanding, respect and inclusion for intersex people. There's a PDF on how to be an active ally, as well as videos exploring rights, diversity and the story behind the intersex flag. Also this excellent post by ABC Queer on Intersex Pride - featuring the stunning poetry of intersex advocate Steph Lum https://www.instagram.com/p/CGy9xxZHEZb/?utm_source=ig_embed

10.01.2022 Tonight, at our first full Chorus rehearsal since March last year, MGLC welcomed our new Musical Director Stephanie Teh to the podium! Steph is no stranger to MGLC. A Life Member, who joined MGLC in 1993, she has been our Assistant Musical Director for the past nine years. Steph is very excited to lead the Chorus, particularly at this time when we join other community singing groups around the world who are emerging from the shadow of Zoom rehearsals to sing together in pers...on again. MGLC members love singing with Steph. A conductor particularly known for her energy, Steph works just as hard as the singers on stage to lift us up and help us deliver great performances. Her coaching style of conducting style brings out the best in singers of varying abilities, in everything from high-octane pop to beautiful heartfelt pieces full of light, shade and emotion. Steph is also a talented arranger of some of our best-loved numbers, including Never Gonna Give You Up, Rule the World, and about half of our Rebel/Rebel (Annie Lennox and David Bowie) concert in 2019. We are delighted to welcome Steph and our singers back to the stage - look out for more on our 30+1 anniversary concert, delayed in 2020 and happening later this year.

10.01.2022 Today is the start of Trans Awareness Week. We normally share information and resources on occasions like these, but we thought we'd do something different this time. So, to celebrate the imagination, creativity, resilience and humour of Transgender and non-binary people, here's a list of great YA reads that will remind you that there's all kinds of beautiful magic in our community.

Dolly is a much-loved Melbourne personality and one of the country’s finest comedy cabaret talents. MGLC and Dolly have performed together many times, including Dolly’s 15th Anniversary Gala, Christmas in July, and on the Midsumma main stage, and MGLC has also appeared on Dolly’s popular livestream show, Kerrie & Dolly....
