23.01.2022 BD"E. Hineni Youth and Welfare is truly saddened by the passing of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, HaRav Ya’akov Zvi ben David Arieh zl who passed away on Shabbat Kodesh 20 Mar-Cheshvan 5781. He will be remembered as one of the greatest modern leaders to the Jewish world, and a huge inspiration to Hineni. Rabbi Sacks' teachings form the foundation of much of our chinuch at Hineni. He had a wonderful way of bringing the complex ideas of the torah, and making them applicable to every Jew. He once said "For Jews, education is not just what we know. It's who we are." May his memory be a blessing for the whole Jewish world, and may it inspire us to strengthen in our educational mission here in Australia.

23.01.2022 Day 4/10: "On Yom Kippur, God comes closest to man. The closer His approach, the greater the obligation we have to do teshuva, as the prophet says: 'Call Him when He is close'." ~ Rabbi J. Soloveitchik. Yom Kippur is the day in which the usually cumbersome burden of doing teshuva is lightened by Hashem, as He meets His people. This quote by the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg highlights the way teshuva should be regarded. Oftentimes it is seen as a long, winding road, an impediment of sorts, though, as Jews, we should be facing it as something that will turn out to be great, good fortune. We should embrace the hardships that it brings, facing them head-on.
