21.01.2022 100% OF PROCEEDS OF THE MELBOURNE LATIN DANCE END OF TERM PARTY TOMORROW WILL GO TO THE BROWITT FAMILY End of Term Party at Melbourne Latin Dance, 7 pm Friday 13th December. We will donate your $5 entry to the Browitt family however if you can't make it along to the party, please feel free to donate directly to the gofundme created by a friend of the family linked here. What has happened is absolutely heartbreaking and can't be undone, but what we can do is support this beaut...iful family at this tragic time in their lives. Another thing... A very, very wise man told me today to direct all the worry, fear, heartache and sadness I was feeling about this tragic event to blessings to the family instead. He calls them "blessings." You might call them positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers.. It doesn't matter what you call it, but if you can do it, it really is far more constructive and far more helpful to the family. Yes, let's send them money to help them with hospital bills but let's also send them our blessings, positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers... let's send them our love Liz

It's $5 entry and as with our last End of Term Party, 100% of proceeds will be going to the Browitt Family Go Fund Me campaign after the New Zealand While Island volcano tragedy last year. 18.01.2022 I got home from the hospital sometime shortly before midnight last night to find these lovely flowers from some of our beautiful MLD students AKA, our MLD Fam...ily I was told on Wednesday this week that my father had suffered a mild heart attack. I rushed to hospital. Yesterday I was at the hospital again and hence did not go to the studio to teach on Wednesday night either. I’m so happy to say that it turns out that it was not actually a heart attack after all, but given as dad has a pace maker and has had some pretty serious health scares lately we were really shaken at the time. In most of our classes on Wednesday and Thursday, James didn’t go into the specifics of why I wasn’t there but with our advanced students who have been with us for years I did share the reason why in the private Facebook group, apologising for my absence. I walked in the front door last night after a very full on couple of days with dad in hospital not to mention a very full on week of our school Melbourne Latin Dance, which like so many dance schools and other industries, has been impacted so very swiftly by the coronavirus. James had put the flowers just inside the front door so I would see them as soon as I walked in. I literally just stood there frozen when I walked in the door. I just stood there. I read the card which was so touching, especially because it was a note written on the back of one of our registration forms. It was kind of like the difference between a child giving you a store bought card versus making one themselves it was just so touching and I was so moved with gratitude and love. Finally I could speak and I called out to James. He had also had a huge day. He had been at the studio in between classes when one of the students brought them in. He said that when he saw the flowers - of course meaning the gesture of caring and love behind them - it really lifted me. We talked about how lucky we are to have such beautiful students at our studio. Through all of this Coronavirus stuff that we are all going through - most of it very unpleasant - I am trying to focus as much as possible on how in so many ways it is also inspiring such beautiful acts of love, compassion and kindness. It is also bringing out the very best of human nature. Let’s all focus on the silver lining and continue to spread the love

16.01.2022 Friday’s End of Term Party at MLD was a riot! We usually have Showcase at this time of year so it was the first time we got to have a Christmas themed End of T...erm Party and lots of Santa’s and Santa’s helpers came to play and dance the night away! It was a great way for everyone to wrap up another awesome year of MLD! Of all the things we love about MLD, above all we love our awesome MLD Family and the beautiful souls we are lucky enough to have at the studio who make it what it is. Thank you for being with us for another wonderful year. Last week I posted that all proceeds from the night would be donated to the Gofundme page for the Browitt Family after tragedy struck the family at the White Island volcano in New Zealand. I have now deposited 100% of the funds into the gofundme under "Melbourne Latin." What I didn't mention last week, because I needed to put on a brave face for the short time that I actually stayed at our party - is that Steph Browitt is a friend of mine from my full time acting course this year. The more I got to know Steph this year, the more I saw what a beautiful heart she has. It is always so rewarding teaching the Beginners Salsa group for Showcase because the improvement and development in just one term is just incedible!! 14.01.2022 SENDING LOVE TO THE BROWITT'S FROM THE MLD FAMILY The Melbourne Latin Dance End of Term Party for was last Friday it was only a week ago yet it feels like the world was a different place then. We have End of Term Parties at the end of every term and they are always great - but so many people commented on how amazing the vibe was at this one. We really noticed and enjoyed it too and we thank everyone who came for creating that beautiful energy! We danced, we laughed, we sh...ared Usually 50% of proceeds from the night go to charity, however this term, as with last term we donated 100% of proceeds to the Browitt Family gofundme (Melbourne family who were affected by the White Island volcano eruption in New Zealand in Dec 19). FB no longer seems to allow posts of non FB fundraisers (seriously FB!!!!) so I can’t post the link here anymore - FB took the link down from my last post! I have however posted a screenshot of the donation. Entry was $5 each and we thank everyone for their contribution and a special thank you to those who generously gave more and those who donated even though they knew they could not attend. It was so fun to do a piece for this years MLD Showcase that was so removed from my normal style in terms of the song choice, choreography and costumes! It was fun to play and you ladies did such a great job with it too! I hope you are all very proud of your achievements this year and certainly throughout Showcase you certainly should be!
