25.01.2022 Jimsbases made the amazing wooden plinth for this piece, Im in love with his work. The Roshan model was printed and painted by me.

24.01.2022 Always nice to look back at a piece and realise that even though you can always see improvements, you still love it. Not always the case, but nice when it happens. This model is Elan from Kimera. #model #minipainter #mini #kimera #faun #fantasy #fantasyart #fantasylady #sexy #miniature #miniatureart #miniaturepainting

23.01.2022 Any order of an ART standard miniature from MMP now comes with a keepsake Certificate of Authenticity that can be kept as a memento and used in any future trades of the item. On average we spend 1-2 months on any Art standard pieces. To learn more about our different painting standards visits our prices page melbourneminipainter.com.au/prices

22.01.2022 WIP, working on some really gradual skin tones and blending. This skin looks like maybe 1-2 colours but is actually 5 different tones all blended and layered together. Really happy with the definition on her muscles that makes it look like a muscled but not BULKED figure.

21.01.2022 Finally happy with skin tones, variation for a full week of blending

21.01.2022 Working on some battle damaged NMM. The goal with NMM is to make something appear to be metal, without using metallic paints at all. When its something battle damaged its important to not make it too smooth, which is great for when youre new to the technique!

20.01.2022 Quick basing some minis before painting. The mud sludge is a mixture of dirt, sand, cork rocks, ink, thinner and acrylic medium. It dries a muddy/clear which looks great for wet mud or can just be painted like anything else.

20.01.2022 The last build I was able to prime before my compressor broke, Im still working on the model that sits atop this log but I just LOVE this scene base. The entire thing was built from the ground up using plaster of paris, foil, modelling clay, a resin orc/treebase, various tree parts from the gardens and pigment dusts. Its a really great scene to place the triumphant victor upon!

20.01.2022 I absolutely loved working in this commission. This client wanted to be able to take his cat on his DND adventures, so we made and painted him in miniature.

20.01.2022 This shows about 2 weeks regular work on 1 model. I think it really shows the difference when you stack is side by side like this. Its still only about two thirds of the way done. Theres a lot of fine detailing to still be done.

19.01.2022 My feelings on the need for art to have meaning

18.01.2022 Sun wukong, the monkey King.

18.01.2022 The things that nature creates... Naturally, actually take a lot of time and consideration to recreate in miniature. These photos show the result of my approach to natural rocks which included: molding from plaster, building, packing and reinforcing with dirt and homemade texture paints, dark wash for water stains, salting for natural decay, painting for colours, touch up paint for lichen, applications of grasses, fake mosses, larger plants and leaf litter and application of pigment powders for top soil. Plus a few hidden skulls and rusted weapons for the treasure hunters out there.

18.01.2022 Building up the wood textures for the back of the new bust. Wood is such a fun material to paint as there are so many options in terms of colours and grain.

16.01.2022 What a charismatic little guy!!! Just the happiest, coolest little dude. So much character. #3dprint #model #handpainted #craft #commission #dog #doggift #pets #melbourne #brusselsgriffon

16.01.2022 The front page of our website looks pretty swish right now, feel free to visit and browse the gallery or see example prices if youre looking for models or collectables www.melbourneminipainter.com.au

16.01.2022 Not my favourite part of painting but gotta get it done. Now to unglue my fingers.

15.01.2022 Finished a quick playful paint job on the first mini to be painted from my 3d printer. Very excited to start customising designs and making exactley what I want in a model.

14.01.2022 Shes complete! I got to the point where I thought finished 3 times with this so hopefully this end sticks. I keep seeing things to improve which makes me excited to move onto the next project. Im really enjoying adding a new technique to my toolbox with each mini I make. On this mini I spent a lot of time on the base, building up the terrain from scratch and I really enjoyed intensifying the contrast on the model so that it reads really clearly.

12.01.2022 Working on the shield and hammer for this bust having some fun with a few new techniques.

12.01.2022 Making my own Tufts and flowers for the next lot of minis. I really enjoy making these and doing them in bulk saves so much time and money. Here is about $15 worth of materials, compared to buying 12 Tufts for the same price.

12.01.2022 Finished commission ready to go to the client. The Old Barbarian was a Art standard piece that took a total of 40 painting hours to complete (doesnt include assembly and other tasks).

11.01.2022 Hes only just started but I was too excited not to share this print of mine.

11.01.2022 The difference between using a static grass applicator and not. These were made at the same time using the same materials, one had a charge applied and one did not.

10.01.2022 This is how our minis are protected during shipping. Inflated airbags both hold the minis away from the edges and each other as well as ensure that any weight on-top of the package is evenly distributed.

09.01.2022 Elan from Kimera Models, finished and ready to go to her new home. This model was a great challenge with lots of fine detail an big areas of skin to decide on blending and light. I really like the final product, on to the next piece!

09.01.2022 This is after 3 days of building, filling, priming and base coating. The base is finished and now to do the detailing on All her items

09.01.2022 Thunderfist, my new project about to be primed and started. I assembled it just for the picture, the shield and hammer will be painted separately so I can get the detail i want around the arms and overlapping areas. Currently researching a lot of viking inspired art for potential colour schemes and extra details that I can work into this piece. Ive got an extra special base planned for this bust to make it really slick. Ive tweaked the lighting in this image so that I can use it as a guide for my light and dark zones in the final piece.

08.01.2022 For the truly dog obsessed, custom dog models that are breed specific and custom designed/painted.

07.01.2022 Something I get asked a lot is how small the brushes are that I use. They are small but it might surprise people that they arent THAT small. For most of my painting I use anything from size 1-4 (shown in the picture) with 2 being my favourite size for most model work.

05.01.2022 Marbling, gold nmm, Steel nmm, wood texturing. Im learning so many new things on this bust, great piece to learn on and to practice larger coverage than my normal minis.

05.01.2022 I just live in a respirator nowadays. Mask for painting, mask for printing, mask for going outside.

04.01.2022 This photo shows some repair work I did on an imperfect 3d print. The hair failed to print completely and there were a lot of haps to fill. You really cant tell once its all dry and primed though a d will make a HUGE difference to the finished model

03.01.2022 Various stages of priming and basing. I like to use the airbrush to lay down my base colours.

01.01.2022 Getting ready to start painting my first home prints! So happy with how they turned out.
