25.01.2022 Ooh, who's this heading into the museum? Looks like a couple of trend-setting amargasauruses! Are you hip enough to hang with them? Amargasaurus is an unusual looking sauropod, mainly due to the large row of spines along its neck. There are many scientific theories as to the purpose of these spines, from regulating blood temperature to attracting a mate, or maybe even for fighting. You can design your very own amargasaurus with our latest Museum at Home activity, right down... to an interchangable neck sail. Make sure to give them a few different looks so they'll be ready for anything! https://fal.cn/3bQz1

02.01.2022 Happy National Cake Day! In addition to inviting you to eatsome actual cake, we thought we'd share this model wedding cake - an exact replica of the cake from the Neighbours TV show when Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell got married. According to the program's prop master the original used on the show was designed and made by a cake shop in Burwood, Victoria, to give it authenticity in relation to the demographic where Neighbours is set. To decrease its weight and to give... it stability, only the bottom tier of the original cake was real (as it had to be cut during the reception scene), while the top two tiers were constructed from polystyrene and plaster. This replica was produced to be displayed in the refrigerator of the original Robinson Kitchen Set, which was part of the Melbourne Suburban Life display in the Melbourne Exhibition at Melbourne Museum, Museum Victoria (2000-2007). It is believed that the bride and groom model are those used on the original cake. The cake is also on display right now in the Mini Mega Model Museum, so you can check it out in person! Happy cake day!
