21.01.2022 Over the last 24 months we’ve seen some interesting project cargo transiting through Port Phillip Heads bound for Western Victoria. Large scale wind farms installed by Vestas Australia are helping to transform Victoria’s energy production, for a sustainable future. These giant blades turn a turbine capable of producing 3.6 MW, enough to power 4,500 households. ... PPSP is delighted to play a small part in the green supply chain.

05.01.2022 The Soroe Maersk at 347 metres long and a capacity of 9640 TEU arrived safely in Melbourne on her maiden visit today. She is the largest ship ever to ply the waters of Port Phillip and enter the Port of Melbourne. The vessel operated by Maersk the world’s largest container shipping company, berthed at the Victorian International Container Terminal’s 5 East Webb Dock. Port Phillip Sea Pilots safely piloted the vessel sharing a detailed passage plan with the experienced bridge team on the Soroe Maersk. With a vessel of this size manoeuvring in the close confines of the Yarra River and Webb Dock swing basin it is essential that a precise passage plan is understood and followed (Shared Mental Model) by the pilots, bridge team, tugs and VTS.
