24.01.2022 At this time of the year, we usually get together for the ‘Alumni and Friends Afternoon Tea’. Old and new friends reacquaint. This year has been different and challenging, who of us have not been able to visit family and friends, attended weddings, not been able to support loved families and friends at a funeral, or not being able to greet a recent new-born baby. However, in these times, there has been opportunity too! Churches have collaborated, connections with the neighbours, the opportunity to love and care in different places. Please pray for the next generation of God’s people to see an opportunity to be equipped and to effectively communicate the Gospel of Christ to a diverse and changing world.

14.01.2022 The entire entertainment industry has come to a grinding halt, so when I was approached to choreograph the AFL with a colleague of mine, there was no other option but to dive in head first! At MST we’re all about transformational living where faith and creativity in your work and every day life integrate together as your identity in Jesus. It was incredible to watch the AFL grand final, held for the first time in Queensland, but with half time entertainment choreographed by... one of our very own MST students, Callum. Callum is a seasoned theatre director and choreographer and performer, and has worked on productions like The 2018 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, the national tours of Mary Poppins, The King & I and Dirty Dancing. He started in the industry performing as the Young Peter Allen in the original tour of The Boy from Oz. Callum and his wife Jasmine met performing together and now have a young family. Callum shared how Jasmine helped him to awaken my faith to be more than just head knowledge, but a heart and affection to bring Him glory in all areas of my life. He stirred up a thirst and hunger in my heart to know him more and worship him more deeply which has led them to join an Acts 29 church plant and then to begin studying a Bachelor of Theology at MST part-time as an online student. Juggling all of these things during this COVID season has been tricky to say the least. To say it was crazy was an understatement. But the Lord is gracious and drew near in this busy time. My incredibly supportive wife held the fort at home.. After a concerned email to my Greek lecturers at MST about my capacity to cope, they quickly responded with flexibility for my study hours and more importantly, prayer. I was encouraged and uplifted as God worked through his people as I continued to try to glorify him in ALL areas of my life. ‘Although I was soaked to my knees as I swept a muddy river out of the flooded dressing room for 300 people just 10 minutes before the game began (we were hit with the biggest storm we’d received all year!), the skies cleared as the National Anthem was sung at the top of the game and we were given the all-clear that the half-time entertainment would go ahead. Callum shares. The verse he reflects on during this time is "He is before all things and in him all things hold together" (Col 1:17). If you relate, and desire a deeper, more integrated faith and life, consider studying at MST next year. We’re hosting an Online Information Night on Tuesday 17 November 7-8pm.
