23.01.2022 One thing is more clear than ever - Melbournians need our support at this time. Which is why St John Ambulance Victoria partnered with The Royal Melbourne Hospital to set up an Urgent Care Centre at the Showgrounds to provide medical care to local residents. The mammoth effort St John volunteers have put in to ensuring the facility is ready to take patients has to be commended - thank you.

20.01.2022 COVID-19 TESTING SITE POP-UP AT MELBOURNE SHOWGROUNDS The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has established a pop-up COVID-19 testing site at Melbourne Showgrounds. The drive-in testing facility operates seven days a week from 9-5pm.... Vehicles will enter Showgrounds via Gate 4, Langs Road and exit via Gate 2, Langs Road. People will be tested in their cars via dedicated lanes inside Building 1. Testing will be conducted by medical teams of GPs and nurses. Qualifying as a finalist in the category Event Venue Capacity more than 1,500, we are especially grateful for the recognition in what was a challenging year for everyone. Our team worked tirelessly and innovatively to respond to the shut down of events and entertainment, providing our venue as a COVID-19 Testing Site to keep the community safe and establishing... an Urgent Care Centre ready to provide medical care to local residents. The team also got the new Encore Studio within Victoria Pavilion up and running - providing COVID-safe professional TV production and live streaming. The studio, which is managed by a professional tech team, was particularly helpful in 2020 when COVID-19 outbreaks meant event organisers had to shift to virtual events at the last minute. Melbourne Showgrounds is Victoria’s largest and most flexible indoor/outdoor venue and we're a significant contributor to our city's major events calendar. 14.01.2022 Within the space of two weeks Melbourne Showgrounds has become one of Australia’s largest COVID-19 testing facilities and now incorporates an Urgent Care Centre for local Melbourne residents. Incredibly, St John Ambulance Victoria volunteers set up the Urgent Care Centre in less than 48 hours. It was great to see the familiar faces of Daniel Porter and Paris Hourn among the volunteers. Normally, around this time of the year, these two popular members of the Royal Melbourne Sh...ow cattle community would be preparing their Speckle Park cattle for the Show. Daniel, Paris and the team from St John Ambulance Australia have done an outstanding job establishing a 30-bed facility in Agricultural Hall Building 10, with ability to resuscitate critically ill patients, provide oxygen and comprehensive first aid. It is a magnificent achievement and we are all immensely proud and thankful.

12.01.2022 The DHHS established a COVID-19 testing site at Melbourne Showgrounds in mid 2020. Jen, Kylie and Catherine are three of the magnificent team that have provided convenient COVID-19 testing facilities for the community. We are proud that Melbourne Showgrounds continues to assist the many healthcare workers in all they do to keep our local community safe.

12.01.2022 The winners of the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards 2020 (ADSA) were announced online from the all-new Melbourne Showgrounds Encore Studio on Thursday 12 November. Never Never Distilling Co. claimed the Champion Alternative Spirit and Champion Gin trophies, whilst their fellow South Australian’s Hills Distillery took out Champion Aromatic with their Bitter Orange and Angove / St Agnes Distillery were awarded Champion Brandy for their St Agnes XO 15yo. All results including medal winners are now available on the The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria website.
