18.01.2022 If 2020 taught us anything it was how to run an online meeting, so when lockdown threw today's AGM plans into slight disarray we decided to run it regardless and not reschedule. 15.01.2022 It is with a very heavy heart and immeasurable sadness that we advise the sudden, but peaceful passing of our esteemed Life Member, Lorraine Ireland. Lorraine, a highly respected and dedicated administrator, and a dear friend and mentor to many was for five decades an integral member of the Melbourne and Victorian softball communities. So well respected was she at Melbourne that upon her retirement we named our highest award in her honour. A testament to the respect, and l...ove, we felt for her and will continue to. She touched the hearts of those who knew her and her loss will be felt keenly by all of us. Melbourne Softball Association and the softball community at Fawkner Park extends sincere condolences to Lorraine’s family and friends at this trying time.

14.01.2022 Hope you are all doing well and managing to stay active, at least the weather is allowing us our proscribed hour a day to get out and about in. (For the non-Victorians who follow us, we're in a covid induced lockdown atm :( ) In what has probably come as no great surprise to anyone our ascent out of lockdown and return to COVIDNormal is going to be a slow one. We're not exactly sure when community sport will be allowed to return but the current roadmap suggests late Octobe...r/November. We'll be taking our cues from Softball Victoria and will be abiding my any Return to Play documentation they develop and implement. What does that mean for Summer Slowpitch? As with winter, our plan is to be able to provide softball in some form or another this summer - didn't quite work out for Metro League but we hope this time around we're going to be lucky! Format/cost/length? We can't answer any of these questions at the moment but we'll continue to monitor the situation and go from there. We're taking a wait and see approach and we'll try and give you as much information and notice as we possibly can. 14.01.2022 Round 1 of the 2021 Metro League starts this Sunday. The short turnaround from summer combined with a massive influx of players (almost 90!) looking to play has put us on the backfoot a touch. Our clubs are taking on extra teams to get those 90 keen beans on the diamond and as such we're only just finalising details from clubs and this is delaying our publishing of the draw. ... We're also a little bit behind on our correspondence at the moment and we appreciate your patience with us. It's controlled chaos but we will get there and have you all on the diamond on Sunday, and with 24 degrees being predicted weather-wise it looks like being a cracking opening day. We can't wait to see you all, many of you who we haven't see f2f since 2019 :)

07.01.2022 As per the directions from the State Government, Melbourne will enter a 'circuit breaker' lockdown from 11:59pm May 27th 2021 until 11.59pm June 3rd 2021. This will of course include community sport and impact the Melbourne Softball Association. As such, all training/games have been suspended until after this time. ... Our scheduled AGM will move from a face to face meeting to an online meeting on Sunday, May 30th and details of this meeting will be emailed to registered members of Melbourne Softball in the next few days.
