Melbourne Polytechnic not only apply an impressive amount of World Music into their curriculum, they help to make sure their students continue to make use of this part of their education. The orchestra would have had a much harder time maintaining and improving our standard otherwise!... If you or someone you know is looking for some musical education with a difference, look no further! Melbourne Polytechnic have multiple courses from music production to performance and composition, from certificate to degree level. Specialising in music from outside the standard western repertoire, they give you the opportunity to focus on the music you want to play, while exposing you to music and ideas that you didn't even know about! Every lecturer is a prominent Melbourne-based working musician and extremely passionate. Not to mention the beautiful Fairfield campus maintained by their horticulture students! The MTO is super excited to announce that we will be sharing the stage with the amazing Levitation, a trio of extraordinary talent and musicality, on 21 March at Memo Music Hall. Lead by one of Australia's great exponents of the guitar Ken Murray has developed a singular path, combining performance, composition, teaching and research. He has championed and recorded Spanish music from the early twentieth century, worked extensively with contemporary composers and has been active as a performer of Brazilian and South American musical styles.
