21.01.2022 As the time ticks down we are finalising some details of our program. Our DJs are the 'engine room' of this event, so let me introduce our DJ for the Opening Milonga on 27th August. DJ Jamie Jamie started his tango journey in Canberra in 2008, but really fell in love with tango and tango music during an... extended stay in Buenos Aires over several years. It’s the music and character of the those downtown BsAs milongas which forms his tango home. He started DJing in Europe as a way of keeping his connection to Buenos Aires alive. Jamie is fascinated by the immense variety of golden age tango, how each orchestra has its own unique flavour and how each dancer has their own response to the music that we all know and love. As a DJ, his hope is that the dancers will be able to leave the milonga with something that they did not have when they entered the hall! Organizer’s note Jamie lived and DJ-ed in Melbourne for a short time during which he became one of favourite Melbourne DJs. It’ll be great to have him open this event.

12.01.2022 Hello everyone, Yesterday we sent and update email to our Newsletter subscribers. If you are not on the list maybe consider joining via here https://melbournetangoweekend.com//keep-up-to-date-with-o/ Among other news we shared who the DJ for Saturday afternoon, 28th August, milonga will be.... DJ Dimitra Dimitra started dancing the Argentinian Tango in 2005 and made her djing debut in Athens - Greece in 2007. As primarily a tango dancer, her selections guarantee a broad variety of orchestras and rhythms that keep the dancing floor ‘hot’ from the beginning to the end. Organiser's note : Dimitra's music selection has fast become one of the most appreciated on the Melbourne milonga scene - I believe you'll love her too !!

08.01.2022 bit more tango history....

06.01.2022 It has been a very long time and challenging year for all of us since our last post. In comparison to the rest of the world we and New Zealand are doing very well, so in many ways we are lucky. About 2 weeks ago we sent out event update email to all those who are on our mailing list, if you are not and wish to be 'in the know' all you need to do is subscribe here - https://melbournetangoweekend.com//keep-up-to-date-with-o/ Our venue, Collingwood Town Hall confirmed we can ...have up to 200 attendees, under current guidelines. This may change, however, we are now starting to plan for 26th - 28th March 2021 and will try to make this the best possible event. There is light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully, and we have something to look forward to. At this point, I hope to have program up towards end of January and registrations opened mid Feb. We look forward to good 2021, our best wishes to you all, Happy New Year !!!
