18.01.2022 Article: Modern Boating 1998.

17.01.2022 MTYC Four Points Race Lucky the event has been indefinitely postponed given the weather forecast for the original scheduled 02 May 2020 Stay safe and keep warm this weekend ... http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/forecasts/portphillip.shtml

17.01.2022 The City of Port Phillip Council is pushing ahead during the current disruption in Melbourne with an inappropriate redevelopment plan for St Kilda Marina that will effectively evict 40 years of trailable yacht sailing activities from this venue. The St Kilda Marina Project process is flawed and their own consultation found the removal of hardstand storage had the least support.... Their "World Class Marina" design will be the only marina upgrade in the world that reduces boating facilities, including: The complete removal of all hardstand mast up storage. A 50% reduction in wet berths A 50% reduction of boat ramp capacity with the removal of both ramps inside the existing hardstand area & significantly reduced amenity & safety at the primary public boat ramp. Their Community panel included no-one who identified as a Marina occupant representing sailing. The $1M that they claim to have spent to this stage is therefore money misspent. 16.01.2022 A quick look at this photo and you’d probably be thinking, ‘yeah, that’s a pretty big chute’.... Now have another look to see the bloke at the masthead! ...yep, that really is a big chute!!!(Photographer unknown)

16.01.2022 Late last night we were activated to a sighting of a distress flare on a boat off Frankston. We could not locate the vessel and were confident that we did not... miss it in our search. Our crew ended up at the boat ramps, enquiring if anyone at the ramps were aware of the vessel being brought back, to no avail. Letting off a flare if your vessel is disabled is absolutely acceptable, and if a passing fisho tows you back in or you get your boat started again, please please please phone "000" to let them know you are OK, as there may well be several Rescue Vessels or even aircraft on their way and don't know you that you have made it back safely. 11.01.2022 Exercising with someone from outside your household in Metro Melbourne under Step 2. It is important to note, that while you may exercise with someone from anot...her household (max 5 people) within 5km of your home and for 2 hours. You must keep the 1.5 meter social distancing 100% of the time. So while we are under step 2 this means that double-handed dinghy sailing with someone from outside your house hold is NOT permitted. It would also be extremely difficult to sail any vessel without keeping the 1.5 meters distance 100% of the time. Hopefully we will be in step 3 very soon, whereby sailing will open up as a sport once more. Many thanks for your understanding, Australian Sailing
