21.01.2022 We came across a few old 'dressage' memories lately. Our first one is from long ago, without doubt a person who started us on this long road. The second one ,... just couldn't resist the youthful look! MISS KAY IRVING, later in her life with hack/dressage horse JOLLY GOOD. Probably early 1970's 1996 - A very youthful, HEATH RYAN, rider of all trades, but especially at the very top for many years in dressage and still at the top today. 1993 -And here is a blast from the past DENISE CEDIA (is this the one and only LUTZ) and EMMIE SCHMUL on Heatherton Park Roanoke. They were competing in Medium here at the Berwick Dressage Club. 1993 - CHARLOTTE STIBBARD PEDDERSON riding CARILLO in Grand Prix, still riding at the top today. Photo credit: Australian Horse News.

15.01.2022 Exciting trail development for trail horse riders in the Mansfield State Forest. Thank you DELWP Hume, the State Government and all those individuals and businesses involved for consulting and working with the trail riding community to achieve this. So often horse riders are forgotten in access and infrastructure planning, but not this time
15.01.2022 It was time to put my mini's recent training to the test and take all eight ponies out for the first time across Bodmin moor for a little adventure. We started ...at Minions before heading out across the moor working together as a team. Naturally there is a tea pot and an awesome spot of wild swimming too! Thank you for watching! 09.01.2022 The saying is it takes a village to raise a child, however that is also true for this filly. This spring, I found this filly, early one morning when I went to... do chores and check on mares. She was up and very spry, however her mother hemorrhaged after birth and died. Kyle came and loaded her into the trailer, and we obtained some mare colostrum from some friends. We tried two different nurse mares, one from a cousin, one from a friends. So with neither mare loving Hobo, we were back to feeding foal replacer. I figured Hobo needed some company, so I thought she could live with Doris the Milk Cow. Next morning when Doris was milked, she only gave 4 litres, when she would usually give 8-10 litres per milking. Same thing that evening. We then caught Hobo In the act.... Doris loves Hobo. LOVES her immensely. If Hobo isn’t in her sight, you will hear Doris bellar for that filly. Weaning time is going to be hard on Doris the milk cow. First picture is from the first day we caught Hobo nursing, second picture is from today. See more

06.01.2022 meanwhile in Siberia, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)... winter horse racing on their Yakut horses... Traditional winter races at the villages are for horses and ...reindeer - both ridden and pulling sleighs - and for sled dogs. The dogs and reindeer have annual races. The horses did too, but times are changing. Some are concerned that Thoroughbreds are brought to Siberia for year-round racing of a commercial nature which will alter genetics; however the Yakut - pony sized but called a horse - should survive; it has the ability in extremes of cold and the Yakut people call it their blood brother - part of their lives. Some are now raced all year round too, commercially on racetracks unlike village races, but in their own class thus far. Whether this will change some lines of the breed remains to be seen. Of interest, reindeer and Yakut horses increase the presence of ethanol in their blood over winter to prevent themselves freezing. Yakut are the only equine breed with this ability, as well as slowing their metabolism right down. Photos and some info from The Siberian Times.
33 in Berlin-Schöneberg. Google Translation: I have always wondered where the many horses are accommodated in a city like Berlin. There must have been thousands, back then. Here comes the resolution: There were so-called horse hotels all over the city. In the picture from 1910 you can see a multi-storey garage for street and transport horses in Berlin-Charlottenburg - probably in the Uhlandstraße, photographed by Willy Römer. The other two pictures are from the 1920s and show a horse lift from Tattersall near Savignyplatz and a horse garage at Monumentenstr. 33 in Berlin-Schöneberg. See more
