24.01.2022 WE ARE BACK! After an off season that has felt like an eternity, we finally have the good news you have been waiting for and that is the 2020 Gridiron Victoria season is officially a go! Your Melbourne Uni Royals are back to start their 2020 campaign with training beginning this upcoming week.... This is the first training session we are allowed to conduit after Covid-19 conditions being eased, there will be more to follow. The first training session is Tuesday 2nd of June at Brens Oval between 6:30PM and 8:30PM! This will be a club wide training session for Men’s, Women’s and Under-19’s. We are going to have to do things differently this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so the following is extremely important. We can only have 20 people on the field at one time. We will be splitting the training field into two halves of 10 people. We must practice social distancing of 1.5m with no contact of any kind with other people including huddling. You must arrive at the training ground prepared to take the field and train and once the session is over, you must leave right away. No hanging around before or after training or using the change rooms. We know this sounds extreme but by abiding by these rules now, we can return to a sense of normalcy as restrictions are lifted. For now, we are going to run two time slots: 6:30PM to 7:20PM and 7:30PM to 8:30PM. There will be a cap of 20 people per session so please respond to the Google form below and indicate which time slot you wish to attend, first in best dressed for this first session. Follow this link to register attendance at this session: https://forms.gle/dNdxb3XJrbQhbbcs9 We cannot wait to see you there. GO ROYALS!

06.01.2022 Royals Family, In light of the recent influx of COVID cases throughout Victoria, the coaching staff have decided to suspend all face to face training for the next two weeks. After two weeks, we will reassess the current situation regarding returning to practice on the 20th of July. It has been a very hard decision to make, as we know how much this sport means to everyone involved (Not to mention how valuable an asset coming together throughout the week has been in this stran...ge time). With all this in mind, it is important that as a family, we look after one another. We need to make smart decisions that will not only ensure that we are protecting one another, but also the community as a whole. With the uncertainty of things, it is our duty as the leaders of Gridiron Victoria, to set the correct precedent. We recognise COVID is bigger than football and it’s on us to lead by example in our response to the situation. During this time, make sure you are looking after yourselves, your family, your friends and your teammates. If you are feeling unwell, take the necessary precautions. Get tested. Feel safe in the knowledge that football will be here and that we will return to normal as soon as possible. In the next week, the coaching staff will be putting together different strength and conditioning workouts you can do from home as well as position specific drills for you to do to stay fit (and sane!). Additionally, if anyone is wanting to refine their knowledge on positions and skill set, feel free to reach out to any of the coaches and we can set up positional zoom conferences. We are as passionate about the game as you are and would love to take this time as an opportunity to strengthen our team in any way. Stay safe and be smart so we can see one another on the field by the end of this month! GO ROYALS!
