25.01.2022 Melbourne Youth Strings member, Emma Sevdalis-Fallaw, has been selected to represent Australia and play the Double Bass for the United Commonwealth COVID music project. The United Commonwealth COVID Music Project has invited 54 musicians from each of the Commonwealth Countries to represent their country as part of a combined Commonwealth Orchestra. This project will culminate in an online video of the combined Commonwealth Orchestra, playing with the Dionysus Ensemble a spe...cially written piece of music. Join us on Saturday 5 September, 9:30am 11:30am, for The Three Rs of Ensemble Direction: Rehearsal Techniques, Repertoire and Retention with Dr Joanne Heaton. In this session Joanne will cover rehearsal techniques and approaches to ensemble direction, that will enhance the ensemble experience for both directors and the musicians before them.... This is the second of three sessions that MYO will run this year. These sessions will be held either in person or via Zoom, as guidelines allow, and will cost $25 for one session, or $60 for all three. 21.01.2022 Introducing our conductors of Winter School 2021. // Mal Sedergreen is an accomplished and highly regarded jazz saxophonist with international and Australian performances at all major national festivals and venues. He has performed with artists including James Morrison, Don Burrows, Bob Sedergreen, Brian Brown, Ted Vining, Bernie McGann, Allan Browne and supported international artists including Branford Marsalis, BB King, Ray Charles, Phillip Morris Superband, David Sanborn, Nat Adderley and McCoy Tyner. He has twice toured nationally with blues legend Jimmy Witherspoon.
