Winners included Jemima Montag (Science Athletics); Rugby Roseman-Gannon (Science Cycling); Jayshaan Randhawa (Science alum Hockey); Gabby Coffey (Arts Netball); Rohan Lavery (Boat Club Rowing); and Elena Galiabovitch (Medicine alum Shooting). 23.01.2022 Congratulations to Arts student-athlete Luke McDonald who recently won North Melbourne Football Club's Syd Barker medal for 2020 (Best & Fairest player)! 22.01.2022 Earlier this month, the University's Colleges gathered along the Yarra River for the 140th instalment of the College Rowing Regatta. It was great to see the Colleges back on the water after the regatta was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. Congratulations to Ormond College on the strong performance and well done to all College Sport participants in semester 1!

19.01.2022 The home leg of the Big Blue Rivalry saw Melbourne take on Team Monash in Hockey, Squash and Touch on 19 May. The competitions were close across the board, with wins in Men's Hockey and Squash for the Melbourne teams. Monash takes a 10-8 lead in the 2021 Big Blue going into the exam period, with Table Tennis, Badminton and Water Polo to come in semester 2! 16.01.2022 On this day in 1870, the first ever Cricket match and Boat Race between The University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney took place in Melbourne, and a rich tradition of Intervarsity Sport in Australia began which still continues today. On this 150th anniversary date, we are happy to announce that plans are now in place to celebrate the milestone throughout 2021. A packed intervarsity calendar will commence in March 2021 with the Aon Uni 7’s Series, the PAC6 Tennis competition, the new University Basketball League and the Big Blue rivalry with Monash, where our 150th anniversary logo will be proudly displayed, and history of intervarsity sport celebrated.

10.01.2022 With the easing on restrictions for indoor spaces announced today, we are pleased to reopen the Squash and Badminton Courts for casual bookings! Bookings will initially be available from Monday-Thursday between 10:00am-2:00pm. 09.01.2022 Reminder: MU Sport facilities will be not be operating during the University closure period over the Christmas break. The Nona Lee Sports Centre and Beaurepaire Centre will be closed from 18 and 23 December respectively, and both facilities will reopen on Monday 4 January. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus as soon as possible!

Great to have so many participants come out to support the day and engage in a traditional sport. We were lucky to start the day with a welcome to country from Wanyara to help foster some conversations about the importance of reconciliation for all!
