25.01.2022 AVOIDANCESo the last few weeks have been rather crappy for me personally. I’ve had to change my autoimmune medications, had the most persistent virus which drained the life from me and I generally just feel like crap. To cope with all this, I’ve literally just avoided life. Which is so bad when you run a small business. So I apologise massively for my unannounced absence this past week. The store will finally be open again on a Friday and back to normal opening hours next week. I have a specialist appointment this afternoon, so fingers crossed we can sort out a better regime and I can get my butt back into gear ASAP! 21.01.2022 2020 CURVEBALL: I’M PREGNANTI was literally ready to punch the next person in the face who said to me It’ll happen when you least expect it! Bam KO motherfucker! But I’ll be damned if that isn’t exactly what has happened. After 7 years of trying to fall pregnant, multiple procedures, blood tests, scans, injections, tears and heartbreak I finally gave up. I was defeated I just couldn’t see it happening. The first three years we might have not bothered trying. I was...n’t ovulating or if I was it was so erratic, good luck getting the timing right. The next few years ovulation was stimulated, cycles were monitored, weight was lost, lifestyles were modified, stress.... yeah that one never left, alternative therapies attended, supplements added and still nothing!!! So how in 2020 of all years am I sat here ecstatically pregnant and expecting our very first bub in June 2021!? Who cares! I’M PREGNANT!!! And yes for those of you doing the math, we’re not quite outside of the 12 week wait but our little smush ball has a strong heartbeat and my obstetrician is really happy with everything to date. I also really need to explain my absence the past few weeks. I did have a horrible virus and was very scared the high temps were going to cause a miscarriage. I have also had to change my medication regime for my psoriatic arthritis as the new tablets that were making me feel great are a no-go for bub. But I’ve also been feeling pretty crappy the past week and just needed some down time. I’ve had a good cry today and a chat with my Mum and I promise I will be in the store tomorrow, just know why I look like a human pile of trash Baby Grainger we love you so much! 21.01.2022 EXTENDED TEMPORARY CLOSURE Unfortunately I didn’t quite get all my ducks in a row over the past few weeks, so we will be closed until the 17th of March. My Rheumatologist decided to cut my treatment for my joints earlier in my pregnancy than we had planned and it hasn’t been great So unfortunately we will be closed today(try not to be shocked ), but next month we will be back to regular programming. Meh I’m trying so hard to get back into the swing of things, but each day there’s another appointment I’ve forgotten about or my body decides not to cooperate. It’s really frustrating and part of me thinks do I just close the store until I’m up to date with everything and it’s ready to sell? I really don’t know Anyway, this week our opening hours will be a bit odd. We’ll be open 12-5pm today, closed tomorrow, open 10am-5pm on Friday and 10am-2pm on Saturday. Unfortunately due to a combination of this weather and the fact I’m off any medication for my psoriatic arthritis due to the little one growing inside of me, my skeleton feels like it’s on fire. If it was just the one joint that was sore, I’d be open in a heartbeat. But today is not a good day. So when we are open tomorrow and Saturday let’s take 20% OFF STORE WIDE, no exclusions! 11.01.2022 CLOSING EARLY TODAY AT 3:20PM=SELF-CARESo I don’t know if this is self-care or vanity? But since I’ve started working in dermatology I feel the need for my skin to look in tip top condition. I had terrible cystic acne as a teenager and well into my 20s. This didn’t change until I finally gave up and went on Roaccutane just before I turned 30. Why did I wait so long Now I breakout on my chin once a month. It’s like clockwork and is very related to my hormones. Yay PCO...S Any who, I have quite bad acne scarring on my cheeks. I asked our resident Cosmetic Physician the very lovely Dr Carolyn Choy (who works @ultimateaestheticsclinic as well as our lovely Dermatology Specialist Group) what she would recommend to fix this situation. Her answer, Dermal Skin Needling. So once every 4-6 weeks, I cover my face in numbing gel and get my face needled. Today is my second session and although Carolyn said it will take until the fourth session to really see a difference in my scaring, I can definitely say my skin already feels a lot smoother. The numbing gel works so well, I do not feel a thing. So I apologise, we are closing early today at 3:20pm so I can go and be vain/take time out for self-care...whichever one it is? I have stocked @doudouetcompagnie_officiel and @histoiredours since we opened our doors in 2015. I fell in love with the brands the minute I saw them @life_instyle Melbourne in 2014. I loved their beautiful quality, sweet designs and matching gift boxes. I just knew they would make for a really special gift that will be cherished by the recipient for years to come. Thei...r price point is at a premium and I try my hardest to keep them as economical as possible, often taking a profit cut myself and pricing below RRP. Now I see these once exclusive brands, bastardised and cheaper to the point my wholesale price is more expensive than what you can pay in Target! I literally want to cry The same thing has happened with one of our favourite book suppliers. They restructured their company completely and now only sell to big retailers like Big W and Kmart. How can I compete? I work so hard and then things like this happen All I can say is, when you shop local you are keeping the stores you are purchasing from alive.
