25.01.2022 Under the Morrison Govt Australia’s economy is roaring back to life.
10.01.2022 PM Scott Morrison - not caving in to identity politics We welcome the Prime Minister’s speech this week that urged Australians not to surrender to identity politics and the forces that undermine the community, declaring freedom rests on taking personal responsibility. That's leadership. ... Part of the PM’s speech is reproduced below. "We must never surrender the truth that the experience and value of every human being is unique and personal. You are more, we are more, individually, more than the things others try to identify us by, you by, in this age of identity politics. You are more than your gender, you are more than your race, you are more than your sexuality, you are more than your ethnicity, you are more than your religion, your language group, your age. All of these of course contribute to who we may be and the incredible diversity of our society, particularly in this country, and our place in the world. But of themselves they are not the essence of our humanity. When we reduce ourselves to a collection of attributes, or divide ourselves, even worse, on this basis, we can lose sight of who we actually are as individual human beings - in all our complexity, in all our wholeness and in all our wonder. We then define each other if we go down that other path by the boxes we tick or don’t tick, rather than our qualities, skills and character. And we fail to see the value that other people hold as individuals, with real agency and responsibility."
06.01.2022 The PM outlines that night's Federal budget is about Australia staying on the economic road to recovery.
01.01.2022 However humble, the Liberals have always believed that home ownership provides stability and direction for families. In tonight’s budget, the Morrison Liberal Govt is helping 10,000 single parent families get into their own home with just a 2% deposit through the Family Home Guarantee.
01.01.2022 Budget 2021 Great Early News on Childcare for Merimbula / Eden Families Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has released details of important improvements to childcare support to be included in next week’s budget. Unlike Labor’s profligate proposal that pushes extravagant subsidies to very high income ($500k+), mainly inner-city households, the Morrison Govt is including targeted, proportionate childcare support into the budget. ... Practical examples illustrate how these changes will make it more cost effective for parents in Merimbula-Eden and district to undertake further work. For example, Martin works fulltime as a chef, earning $70,000 a year, his wife Hayley earns $25,000 a year, working two shifts a week as an allied health worker. Their two children are in a local community daycare centre. Hayley wants to work an additional two shifts to effectively double her salary (26% extra for the family), but if she does so, childcare costs will eat up much of her additional income. Under the Morrison Govt’s changes, Martin and Hayley will now get a 95 per cent subsidy for their second child, saving them $109 a week or more than $5600 a year. These reforms reduce the disincentive to work and give families more choice. The cost to the budget is significant - $1.7 billion. However, this provides support to around 250,000 families. Approx. half of these families have a household income of less than $130,000 p.a. Importantly, the pay-off for the economy is significant, with GDP expected to grow by about $1.5bn a year. Treasury analysis indicates these changes will deliver up to 300,000 more hours worked per week. This is the equivalent of 40,000 people working an extra full day a week. Sensible support for families that also grows the economy.
