23.01.2022 Hi friends. Today is my last day locked up. 3 weeks ago I got sick with some sort of flu thing which lasted a week. (don't know what it was but had all the symptoms). Have been in isolation since then and haven't left our tiny apartment in all that time. This is now my 2nd quarantine period (after mandatory self-isolation back in March) and Oh, I CANNOT WAIT to go out, but I should not complain. Kids haven't been allowed out of the house since mid-March (except for a few day...s in early June) and Jerry has managed really really well (considering). I'm so grateful for range of delivery services available now in Iloilo City, honestly I don't know what I would have done without them. Anyway back to full health and writing writing writing. Mel xx

21.01.2022 Dear friends, I haven't posted for a while and wanted to give a quick update. After arriving back in the Philippines last March 5th (with my mum) we quickly had to go into self-isolation. Jerry's classes were cancelled about the same time and the whole city soon placed in full lockdown. It's been a totally stressful time trying to entertain a 12 year old, help keep my mum comfortable and up-to-date with all her meds and food requirements (diabetes, blood pressure etc), and wo...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who bought stamps this week and a few extra donations (Paul Cudby). We were able to send 15 boxes of facemasks to our sponsored families in Estancia. Thanks also to Dash - Delivery & Errands Assistant for helping me get these to Estancia before lockdown. And Emelyn Chavez Villacote for distributing them all.

19.01.2022 Big thanks to everyone who made today’s delivery to Estancia possible. Groceries, household goods, school supplies AND 8 x brand new smartphones for our sponsored high school kids. Thanks to my writing clients, sponsors, Iloilo Dash Deliveries, and many others (you know who you are). Emelyn Chavez Villacote, Dash - Delivery & Errands Assistant

18.01.2022 The reality of working from home with a kid who hasn't been to school since mid-March . Note to self: turn off email notifications when preparing client quotes. Mel xx PS: I'm finally back at my writing desk and completely recovered from some flu-type illness (I dare not speak it's name). Stay safe everyone and happy writing.

10.01.2022 Hi friends. It's been a while since I posted here on Facebook. I took a few months away from writing to work on a side-project -- as well as help Jerry with his home-schooling. I hope you'll all had a beautiful Christmas Day and planning something relaxing for new year. Now onto the good news. Would anyone like a 1 year Masterclass membership (expiring 22 December 2021)? If you are doing it a bit tough right now I'll gift you the membership for free, but otherwise just make a... donation for my projects and people here in the Philippines. Masterclass is amazing and especially good for writers, poets and musicians, but there are also incredibly good courses on fine cooking, communication, photography, fashion design, business leadership, sports, dance, science, conservation and activism. Anyway just PM and I'll send you the link. I only have one to give away so it's first in. Have a great day. https://www.masterclass.com/

07.01.2022 Great to be in a position to help my friends in Estancia with 125kg rice. Thanks to my writing clients (for the paid projects), my behind the scenes sponsors (who randomly send money for the kids here), my mum and dad (who have supported all my projects here for the last 6+ years) and my Uncle Richard (who sells stamps every week and sends the money for the kids). And even better, I hope to be a fully registered Austalian charity by the end of the year. Get writing.... Mel. PS: thanks as always to Emelyn Chavez Villacote for buying and distributing the rice for me. Jerry and I miss you all.
