25.01.2022 I'm just reflecting on my second week back in clinic for the year and the health goals that my clients have achieved including : 3 kgs weight loss in a week by following my low GI, clean eating meal plan 9 kgs weight loss in 8 weeks with Metabolic Balance ... 5 kgs weight loss in 4 weeks through my low GI eating plan Improvement in serum testosterone levels and energy in a male client reduced menopausal hot flushes and improved sleep quality Improved sleep onset and maintenance for a first time mumma implementation of a healthier way of eating whereby the remark was made " I never knew that eating healthy could taste so good ". reduced gut bloating and pain for a client whom had small intestinal bowel overgrowth Improved immunity and reduced coughing in a toddler I'm so excited ! 23.01.2022 Are you reaching your water intake goal of 2 litres a day ? It's taken my whole life to discover a way to meet my 2 litre intake of water a day. That is to have half/half - half a glass of boiled hot water and half a glass of cooled water. Suddenly I am able to drink more water because I love warm fluids !... Why does it matter ? Because it's needed for many biochemical reactions for cell function, blood pressure regulation, lubrication of joint cartilage, elimination of toxins and through the bowel. In fact a loss of 5-10 percent of body water causes fatigue How are you getting your water intake in ? Drinking coffee and tea doesn't count because they are diuretic
23.01.2022 , is an unpleasant and embarrassing feature for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome. For those that are unfamiliar with what this is, it is hair growth that appears on the face, chest or back and occurs as a consequence of high androgens in women with this reproductive condition. There have been some studies showing the positive effect of spearmint tea in reducing free testosterone levels in women with PCOS. The participants drank 2 cups a day, in one st...udy for 5 days and in the other study for 30 days. In the study that was done over 30 days, women had higher levels of FSH, Luteinizing hormone and estradiol. Which is promising for any woman with PCOS who wants to find ways to balance their hormones and so easy too ! See more

18.01.2022 It is the start of the year and you tell yourself " not another year of feeling bloated and overweight " and so you decide you must take action. After all, you're not getting any younger and a New Year heralds new beginnings. A time to start over. Doesn't it ? However, you start dwelling on the end point of your health and wellbeing goal - and not a lot on the starting point and that should be to focus on developing a good dietary habit that you aren't cu...rrently doing. Focus on developing a good habit by repeating a healthy diet choice for 21 days and then you will feel better in yourself than you than if you . Amanda came in to see me and wanted to lose weight. She began by working on one thing - to stop eating 90% of the processed foods that had found their way into her diet and within 3 weeks she lost 4 kgs and felt empowered. She then began to focus on losing the weight and guess what - She actually put back on a kilo - which deflated her. The lesson in it for her was to get to your ideal dress size, it is better to focus on changing a dietary habit. Focussing Just on weight loss often leads to a never ending cycle of losing weight then gaining and berating yourself over it. I see more of my clients achieving their goals through being EDUCATED, ENCOURAGED AND MOTIVATED. It works ! 17.01.2022 Day 5 of Lose 1 kg of weight in 7 days
14.01.2022 This is one of the questions I always ask in a consult and if the answer is a resounding 'no' then I have to consider what the reason for this is if you do get 8 hours sleep. An often overlooked reason for waking tired is that you may be mouth breathing (which is overbreathing and this isn't good for you). Some symptoms associated with mouth breathing are:... * sleep apnoea * tightness in the chest * a dry mouth * snoring * yawning or sighing the the day * throat clearing * tightness in the chest * anxiety * blocked or stuffy nose * fatigue in the day to name a few. Of course these symptoms can be associated with other conditions however mouth breathing is an often overlooked cause and so easy to remedy (once it is identified). Any ideas how this may be remedied ?

For those of you who don't know me and are interested to know a little more about the person behind the naturopath here are some things about me: I became a naturopath because many years ago I saw a naturopath whom helped me with gut issues that started when I travelled through India 25 yrs ago.... I am a mum of 3 boys aged 14 to 21 (or 4 if you count my husband) ! I love helping people especially encouraging people to feel good about themselves. I try to exercise every day, because I love it and how I feel after it especially Bikram yoga, running and Bush walking. I'm not so great with technology. 12.01.2022 It is men's health week and to raise awareness of men's health, I feel it is important to share these sobering statistics on Australian Males. * one in every 6 men suffers from depression * 75 % of suicide deaths are male * the leading cause of death is ischaemic heart disease... * the prevalence of diabetes is higher in men than women * Men are more likely to get sick from serious health problems than women Unfortunately men are less inclined to take an active role in their health than women - which is why I see so many more women in clinic. 10.01.2022 My last session in clinic today until I resume on Wednesday 4th Jan 21. As always at the end of each year I reflect on what I learnt, who I helped, clinical successes and areas I need to sharpen my knowledge and skills in. As you know, the learning never stops ... However I am thankful to my clients who I honour and appreciate for entrusting me with their health. You inspire me and teach me to be a better practitioner. Nutritional highlights of beetroot includes:... folic acid fibre Manganese Potassium They help your liver with detoxification by increasing antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase. The fibre is beetroot is good for our microflora and immune system by increasing white blood cells responsible for eliminating abnormal cells. Those with a history of oxalate containing kidney stones should avoid overconsuming beetroot though.
