23.01.2022 H O R S E P O W E R 456KW Ferrari. No horses were hurt in this race. We lifted the pace today and got revved at the Ferrari Race Day @sydneymotorsportpark Thank you to @ferrarisydneyofficial for a fun day.... I failed at the simulator so it’s doubtful I’ll be on the track soon but we are inspired by RED. Let’s see how fast we can get hotted up abs RED into one of our projects. 18.01.2022 DEAR SIR. Sir Chair sits beautifully against the curved joinery and solid walnut door pull detail we designed for our clients home. The bedroom is finished with a simple sophistication of warm grey with tobacco velvet. 14.01.2022 ROUND AND ROUND. Continuing our play to grey we wrapped a structural column with a curved wall. It’s a smooth veneer entry to the space. 07.01.2022 THICK EDGE. Norwegian Rose was selected not only for the pink but the thick green veins. 06.01.2022 TO BATHE IN ROSE PETAL PINK. We were asked by our Mosman client to create a pretty pink bathroom for their daughters. We responded with a geometric wall tile and luxury brass fittings. One of the beauties of this project is it is a return client. 04.01.2022 Elrod House is a residence in Palm Springs, California designed by American Architect, John Lautner with Arthur Elrod as the interior designer. Elrod House’s most notable appearance was as Willian Whyte’s mansion in the 1971 James Bond film, Diamonds are Forever. Who can forget Bambi and Thumper.... James Bond famously said: That’s quite a nice little nothing you are almost wearing. 03.01.2022 Our own Modernist design captured much attention nationally and internationally with a home we designed in Vaucluse for a brave Sydney family who remain one of our favourite clients of all time. We were briefed to watch The Party starring Peter Sellers. A 1968 American comedy film, it was very loose in structure and essentially serves as a series of set pieces for Sellers improvisational comedy talents.... The party was set in a home filled with all that was 60s. Many iconic 60s homes were designed by Arthur Elrod famous for his many homes designed in Palm Springs and most famous for his designed house, Elrod House. 02.01.2022 FIFTY SHADES OF GREY. With a little tobacco makes for a smokin’ hot bathroom. We framed the entry of the Bellevue Hill bathroom in slabs of thick grey stone. Finished the walls in a large format mosaic in warm grey and specified the joinery in another grey. It’s modern, masculine, soft and natural.... all@at the same time. 01.01.2022 Mid-Century Design and Modernism has always been a favourite era of our design studio. This week we celebrate all that is Modernism. With Platner from dedece in our window, we couldn’t get more iconic.... Working in the firms of Eero Saarinen and Kevin Roche in the early and mid-1960s, Platner unveiled his seminal collection of chairs, ottomans and tables in 1966. Produced by Knoll International, with the aid of a grant from the Graham Foundation, each piece rested on a sculptural base of nickel-plated steel rods resembling a "shiny sheaf of wheat", according to the Knoll catalogue. In 1966, The Platner Collection captured the decorative, gentle, graceful shapes that were beginning to infiltrate the modern vocabulary.
