25.01.2022 Svadhisthana The second chakra Located below the navel - near the sacrum and hips, holds the key to unlocking and harnessing the energy you need to be innovative and to make change Energetically this chakra rules creativity, emotion, joy, enthusiasm, and sensuality (hubba, hubba)! When Svadhisthana energy is in balance - not too intense and not too laid back - you can access feelings of abundance, joy and pleasure, and creative energy and juices flow freely When S...vadhisthana is blocked, by emotional trauma or chronic stress you are unable to connect with your passions, tend to try to control everything, and your life might lack zest (and that’s no good -because we love zest)! Unfortunately, our modern predominantly desk-and-car bound lives can exacerbate and imbalance the second chakra. We sit more - and for longer periods - than ever, resulting in restricted and often weakened hips that inhibit the second chakras creative energies One of the most accessible ways to undo these restrictions - and find second chakra balance is through asana. Yogas physical postures allow Prana (our life giving breath or force) to flow, activating and directing energy appropriately Ultimately hip opening asanas teach you to loosen your grip on life and let things ebb and flow. And finding a sense of fluidity in your day to day life transforms all your relationships, including your relationship with yourself. Mary Beth LaRue See more

22.01.2022 Did you know that yoga is an ancient practice with its first known exploration in 4500-2500 BCE? This ancient version of yoga was not a physical practice (unbeknown to most non-yogis), but a study of the mind, breathing rituals, mantras, ethical values, meditation, philosophy, and a way of life The physical practice that we recognise today as yoga began in India in 1700-1800 and it was largely a practice performed by dudes! Many different interpretations of the word yoga... have been handed down over the centuries One of these is to come together, to unite. Another meaning of the word yoga is to tie the strands of the mind together These two definitions at first glance may seem very different, but really they are speaking about the same thing While coming together gives us a physical interpretation of the word yoga, an example of tying the stands of the mind together is the directing of our thoughts toward the yoga session before we take on an actual practice. Once those mental strands come together to form an intention, we are ready to begin the physical work @neeksandgaston #mellowmovementyoga #airbnb #airbnbphoto #airbnbexperiences #sydney #manly #northernbeaches #travel #instatravel #seeaustralia #newsouthwales #australia #ilovesydney #travellerau #spottedinsydney #northernbeacheslocal @northernbeacheslocal See more

21.01.2022 What movement brings you joy? Very insightful 15 minute talk by Leon Taylor.

19.01.2022 I’m not big on New Years resolutions.. but my intention is to do more of this in 2019. More salt. More sand. More stillness. I don’t know about you, but I have a ripper of a year planned...A European Summer, a wedding to plan with my beautiful fiancé, and of course pouring my heart and soul into my yoga practice - continuing to grow and learn. My plan is to overflow this year - focusing my energy on my physical and mental health so that I can be present more often than not. Put simply.. I want to feel good... really, really good, inside and out so that my energy is infectious to everyone I surround.

13.01.2022 Savasana Savasana is more than just relaxing your body and muscles after an asana practice It is the essence of yoga made simple: going within and experiencing yourself This feeling of undefended, uncontracted, undistorted being is stillness - it is peace Peace is a higher energy state than what we’re used to Peace is high energy centeredness, dynamic calm When you practice savasana on a regular basis, you will discover that it is always available to be experien...ced - feeling calm is right here, always. It is not far away, hard to access. Nor is it something you create. It is something you let yourself relax into It becomes a choice: tension or relaxation? Conflict, anxiety, physical discomfort or peace? If you want peace, relax The choice becomes easy once you realise you have a choice @airbnbexperiences @airbnb @yogajournal @yogajournalaustralia @localpeoples @locallivingmanly @lonelyplanet #northernbeacheslocal #spottedinsydney #travellerau #ilovesydney #australia See more

04.01.2022 Hibernation season is officially over beautiful people! Can I get a super-chilled-zen-like OM YEAH?!? With the Spring Equinox just around the corner on the 23rd of this month - it’s the perfect time to de-clutter, become empowered, and create intentions for what you would like to cultivate in your life as we transition into the more yang months of the latter year All the pretty flowers are budding, insects buzzing, leaves unfurling - and despite our growing separation fro...m the natural world, whether we like it or not, we are deeply affected by this gentle stirring around us Our physiology senses a natural opportunity for a fresh, clean start; our bodies are primed to lighten things up, cleanse ourselves of any accumulated imbalances, and rejuvenate our deepest tissues. As we start to awaken alongside nature from our winter slumber, take a little moment to experience and appreciate a renewed sense of joy and inspiration... have a beautiful start to the week See more

03.01.2022 Yoga is for everyone! An epic review from a family experience I hosted earlier this week. Lots of laughs, great company and we had the beach all to ourselves! This is the gorgeous Stewart family having a little play around after a very peaceful practice in the morning sun. Perfect way to kick off the day.

02.01.2022 Sthira and Sukha What is an asana? Asana translates as posture The word is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘as’ which means to stay, to be, to sit Patanjali’s yoga sutra describes an asana as having two really important qualities..... Sthira and Sukha Sthira is steadiness and alertness Sukha refers to the ability to remain comfortable in a posture Both qualities should be present to the same degree when practicing any posture Even if we achieve the steadiness and alertness of Sthira there must also be the comfort and lightness of Sukha, and both must be present for a certain length of time without both of these qualities there is no #asana

01.01.2022 We’re manifesting major creative inspiration in our lives for the next few months. And we’ve come to realise a major part of this process is letting go of fear... fear of judgement... fear of doubt... and fear of failure. I wanted to share a quote from Elizabeth Gilbert - the beautiful genius who birthed ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ into this world. In her most recent work, ‘Big Magic’ (highly recommend this read - link in bio) which shares her wisdom and unique perspective about creat...ivity, Elizabeth so cleverly articulates: I even have a welcoming speech prepared for fear, which I deliver right before embarking upon any new project or big adventure. It goes something like this: Dearest Fear: Creativity and I are about to go on a road trip together. I understand you’ll be joining us, because you always do. I acknowledge that you believe you have an important job to do in my life, and that you take your job seriously. Apparently your job is to induce complete panic whenever I’m about to do anything interestingand, may I say, you are superb at your job. So by all means, keep doing your job, if you feel you must. But I will also be doing my job on this road trip, which is to work hard and stay focused. And Creativity will be doing its job, which is to remain stimulating and inspiring. There’s plenty of room in this vehicle for all of us, so make yourself at home, but understand this: Creativity and I are the only ones who will be making any decisions along the way. I recognize and respect that you are part of this family, and so I will never exclude you from our activities, but stillyour suggestions will never be followed. You’re allowed to have a seat, and you’re allowed to have a voice, but you are not allowed to have a vote. You’re not allowed to touch the road maps; you’re not allowed to suggest detours; you’re not allowed to fiddle with the temperature. Dude, you’re not even allowed to touch the radio. But above all else, my dear old familiar friend, you are absolutely forbidden to drive. See more

A HUGE heartfelt thanks to everyone I have had the pleasure of teaching this year, and to all my beautiful yoga family and friends who have supported and provided guidance throughout my journey so far. 2018 you’ve been an absolute beautiful thing.
