25.01.2022 Hi Everyone! I hope you all were spoiled for Mothers Day and had a wonderful time with your family. Many school students are looking forward to the gradual return to school, where possible could you kindly let me know when your young students are still at home and when after school lessons are required please? I will do my best to make this work for all. As my husband is vulnerable to this virus, I am being very cautious about returning to face to face teaching. Most studen...ts will remain online for this term. Some subjects are much harder to teach successfully online, such as singing , brass and strings. The tuning challenges alone are significant. Hence these students are most likely to return first, as conditions stabilise. Please be careful over the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any questions about teaching matters. 23.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Our online lessons are well underway now. Please note that I cannot answer your calls when I am teaching so its best to text me and I will respond as soon as I am free. Although I have many of the pieces students are working on I may need you to take screen shots of some pieces so i have their music in front of me while they play. This system isnt perfect but it does allow me to see and hear how students practice at home. It is very important that students hav...e a chair of the right size in relation to the keyboard. They should not have their hands hanging down from the keyboard. If the chair is low consider other options in your home or try a bolster cushion. As the connection is often unstable , its best if we keep lessons to 30-45 minutes, and do repeat sessions were required. Above all keep safe everyone. Trinity is working on video options for exams but they say results will be finalised once the pandemic is controlled and a short supplementary knowledge test can be done. I believe in hoping for the best , while planning for the worst, so please take this request in that spirit. In the event that lessons become a health issue for any of us, I will offer FaceTime or Skype lessons till the situation returns to normal. 15.01.2022 We have several students preparing their audition recordings for Hunter School of Performing Arts, and the CAPA program at Belmont High School. 14.01.2022 I just received a notification from playnote, the designers of Auralbook, for both Trinity and AMEB. Due to the pandemic, they are offering free access to the app for this month. I suggest that parents download both versions of the app because they offer different styles of questions. Its an excellent resource and a great time filler if they are bored over the holidays. Check the App Store on your device to download

13.01.2022 Today I received advice from the music teachers association, which recommended that face to face lessons are considered safe as long as local schools remain open. If schools are closed due to Covid 19 then I will move to online lessons. In order for this to be successful, its important that I understand what the practice conditions are like in your home. Would Parents please record your childs practice and get them used to seeing a camera while they are playing. Let me kno...w what the technology options are like in your home . I have attempted online lessons before and found that the internet service is not ideal for this. We will need to be flexible and work with the restrictions of the situation. Please remember that the book must not be seen during the technical work section. Easter is fast approaching so please let me know if you want lessons to continue over the holidays . I limit video lessons to 30 minutes because the system doesnt cope for much longer. You are welcome to have lessons frequently through the week to keep kids making progress

10.01.2022 Hi Everyone, As it looks like the Virus is going to impact our lives for a considerable time to come, I would like to clarify some things around online learning. 1. Yes I am charging standard fees for online lessons. Most people are actually receiving slightly longer lessons than they originally booked. This is to allow some adjustment for both the student and myself. It is not identical to a face to face lesson and I am working towards improving lesson delivery for us all.... 2. Please ensure that the device your child uses is fully charged and positioned so I can see the keys of the piano. 3. In the interests of child safety, I do not record lessons. I request that an adult is present during lessons so you are aware of what has taken place. I will forward a media consent form to cover on line lessons in the near future. 4. Lessons in this format must be flexible. If your child is asleep, miserable or argumentative please let me know and we can reschedule. It is very difficult to deal with challenging behaviour when youre suburbs away. 5. It is really important that the child has some writing equipment with them during lessons. I am looking into a whiteboard software program so I can write on the screen when needed. 6. Many of the non-digital pianos need tuning , some badly. Your child cannot know if they are playing something correctly when it doesnt sound correct. 7. Overall I am delighted with the progress the students are continuing to make, and I hope that music brings some smiles to their time in isolation. 8. 08.01.2022 It’s hard to believe we are in term 4. This has been a chaotic and challenging year in so many ways. I want to thank all those families who have continued with me despite the disruptions forced upon us. Most students are making great progress and working hard to achieve their goals. We will continue to be COVIDSAFE and be flexible in lesson delivery. If your child isn’t feeling well please keep them at home for everyone’s sake. Video exams are a popular option and most boa...rds have now adopted these moving into 2021. While many of us get camera shy, it is less stressful than the traditional exam format. Please remember that Trinity allows students to sit more than 1 grade per instrument in a single exam session. This can be helpful for those with goals to achieve in a limited timeframe. 07.01.2022 A big welcome to Zoe and Hayley! I am delighted by all the hard work on evidence in our students. Keletso auditioned successfully for. JMC degree in music and is now studying in Sydney. Several students are working towards HSPA auditions as well. There is strong progress towards music exams as well. All of this makes me smile. I am considering a Mothers Day concert this year. Please let me know if your family would be involved. There is nothing like a performance in front of family to promote earnest practice.

I use a website which allows to improve their maths and English results. It is a big help for anyone contemplating withdrawing their child from school during the pandemic. 03.01.2022 I want to congratulate all the students who have done video exams this term. It’s a been a big effort but the standard has been very high. I plan to post an example piece from each of their submissions. Well done everyone

03.01.2022 Hi everyone, I just got a wonderful email from Trinity . They have significantly altered their exam entry process. There are no more exam closing dates and exams are available all year round. There will be no more struggling to get work up to standard by the entry date and we are told to enter students once they are ready to be examined . The exam is done digitally and there are no limits on how many exams students sit. This is a huge benefit. I hope to see some very relieved students once they appreciate how much of a help this is.
