21.01.2022 Climate Research Strategy for Primary Industry Forum The CRSPI Online Climate and Emissions Reduction in Agriculture Forum 2021 is happening on 29 and 30 March 2021, exploring the state of climate change research in Australian agriculture. Subsequent detections were made in Narrabri, Wee Waa, Dubbo, Breeza and Maitland in October 2020.... Growers in the Macintyre, Gwydir, Namoi and Hunter valleys especially are urged to be on high alert for signs of fall armyworm laying and damage in their crops. Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is a notifiable plant pest in NSW. All notifiable plant pests and diseases must be reported within 1 working day. 13.01.2022 Melons Australia's new Executive Officer, Johnathon Davey, has been meeting with growers and members in fields and packing sheds, as well as members of the executive and Melons Australia's biosecurity officer out in Chinchilla and Southeast Queensland this week. The blue skies returned just in time for his visit - and the melons were looking fantastic! Terry O'Leary, secretary of Melons Australia and Chinchilla melon grower said of his visit "It was a good day with Johno m...eeting up with local grower Murray Sturgess and others in Chinchilla today. Jo (Biosecurity Officer, Melons Australia) gave a great rundown of her biosecurity project and history". Johnathon will be meeting with the team at Growcom, Crust farms at Gatton and the Melons Australia executive later this week at the Brisbane Markets. New Zealand previously placed the suspension on the export of all fresh cucurbit species produced in Queensland.
