24.01.2022 Amazing things are being developed in the Mel Rose Couture Studio. I am taking this time in Iso to seriously work on some cool things for the MRC brand, and I really hope you are going to love them Not sure if I will release anything before our 6 weeks in stage 4 is over (one down , five to go), or if I'll keep it all to myself until I can launch it properly. 23.01.2022 Finishing up the last of my custom mask orders this week. I’m so grateful that I have been able to still work and make an income from our masks while in lockdown here in Melbourne. I won’t lie this week has been a tough one for me. Dan Andrews’ announcement, on Sunday, that we would not be able to reopen the studio to clients until at least the end of October, threw me a little. I was expecting not to have the lockdown restrictions lifted straightaway, but for it to basicall...y be for another 6 weeks was a complete shock. But, we need to work with what we’ve got. 23.01.2022 Today I spent a little time doing the things that I love to do, but rarely get a chance to indulge in. Letting my imagination run wild with design concepts for new collections and ideas that may never see the light of day, is technically something I do for work, but It is something that lifts me up. Baking is another thing that I don't do often enough. I'm so focussed on working that I forget that it's something I find an emended amount of pleasure in.... So today I allowed myself the time to do what I love. What do you enjoy doing in your down time. I know a lot of us in Victoria right now, we have more downtime than we wished, but are you spending that time feeding your soul. 18.01.2022 Well what a year it has been. Tomorrow marks the last day of the year that will always and forever be 2020. I want to take the time to say a huge THANK YOU to you my followers, and my clients. Thank you for your continued support, welcome to all my beautiful new followers, and a big thank you to all those who purchased masks at the height of the Vic lockdown. This year has been a test for us all. A test in patience, a test in kindness, and a test in making things work. It fee...ls like everything happened this year and yet more than half the year was spent in lock down. Here was Mel Rose Couture's year in Highlights. *Couture classes with the amazing @susankhalje *My 40th Birthday celebrated wearing an original Mel Rose Couture gown in Italian Mikado from @selectivefinefabrics *Mel Rose Couture's very first runway show @goldcoastfashionproject *Then I got back to Melbourne and all of a sudden we were in lockdown. So I did what we all did; -baked our hot cross buns, bread, chutney, and anything else we could think of, -I was a guest on my very first podcast episode with @seworganisedstyle ( I also created my very first French Jacket created in Italian Boucle from @stitches_to_style ), - I pivoted for a time and made facemasks, lots and lots of facemasks. * All the while I was working on beautiful couture pieces for my amazing clients who had to postpone their events, but looked oh so amazing when their day came. * And maybe the biggest of all was a personal achievement. While it is still a work in progress, I found the confidence to design Mel Rose Couture's very first separates collection and put it into production. * Finally. Spending a beautiful Christmas with just my husband and myself. Who knows what this next year will bring, whatever it is I know we will all be stronger to face it having lived through this truly unique year. See more

17.01.2022 Welcome to Spring!!! The 1st of September brings with it warmer weather, signalling the offical beginning of wedding season here in Aus. This year it is a very different feeling. With rules and restrictions in place due to Covid-19, I know so many Couples and Wedding Vendors have endured so much hardship over the last few months, especially here in Victoria. With 13 days left to go before Stage 4 restrictions are either lifted or re-evaluated here ...in Melbourne, we are unsure as the weather weddings will be able to go ahead in the coming months. I wanted to take this time to let all couples and vendors know you are not alone. We are here to support you. You've got this. 15.01.2022 Hip Hip Hooray Weddings are on the way back here in Melbourne. Restrictions have now lifted to allow weddings with a total number of 5 attendants (the couple, the officiant, two witnesses), in metro Melbourne. You can also travel further than your 5km radius (in metro Melbourne) to attend the wedding (as long as you are one of the 5 people allowed). 11.01.2022 Holy Crap!!! I only just realised that tomorrow is the last day of September. WT This month has really flown by. I spent most of it in the studio finishing off my beautiful October Bride's gowns, and planning out some new collection pieces. I had hoped to have some new things too show you, but have decided to push it back another month (basically due to the very slow changes around Stage 4 restrictions here in Melbourne).... So what are the plans for Mel Rose Couture in October. Finalising all the pieces for our beautiful separates collection - these pieces will be available to purchase on our online store and available in sizes 6-22 Once we are allowed, we will be opening the studio back up to clients for fittings are one on one meetings Continuing to work with our amazing clients through virtual appointments and phone consultations Adding more amazing articles to our blog and of course all the day to day stuff that keeps us going I can't wait to share with you all the behind the scenes action for what we get up to in October. xx See more

11.01.2022 Why Bridal Couture? What is it about bridal Couture that drew me to creating Mel Rose Couture? It’s not just something I’m good at. It’s really the cornerstone of who I am. ... A bit of an old soul, I love watching movies from Hollywood‘s golden age. Marveling over the amazing construction and details used in the wonderful gowns and costumes worn. My love affair with fashion goes further than that.... period fashion, corsets, crinolines, bustles, is where my fashion journey started and I think my love affair with couture truly began. Working out how some of the couture greats created their amazing designs is fun and exciting, and something I will never get tired of. My aspirations for Mel Rose Couture is really about providing my clients with an amazing experience, and guiding them through what is such a special and personal experience. Using the most amazing quality fabrics and couture techniques, whilst being environmentally and ethically responsible. I wanted to create a business that catered to the individual. 08.01.2022 Gown Spotlight - Miss Celine When I was in the designing stage for the Miss Celine gown, I wanted to create something that would appeal to brides looking for something a little simpler for their wedding or reception look. A cute, fun, and flirty dress that could be worn with ease not matter the body shape. I knew I wanted to give a nod to the 1920's with the embellishments whilst keeping the 60's mod look in the silhouette. The trick was finding the perfec...t feathered lace adornment and then working out the placement to keep it modern and fresh. Want to know more about Miss Celine?
