18.01.2022 PAUSE & consider See beyond the mess! See beyond the painted hands! See beyond the splodged & painted vest! ... Look instead, at her intent, look at her concentration! Look at her engagement & well being. Look at her carefully working things out. Look at her exploring textures and nature. Look at her deep involvement & critical thinking! Look at the skills & competency Look at this moment & look at HER ! Instantaneously without thinking this entire magical opportunity for learning could immediately STOP, VANISH, halted & be LOST ! The words we speak can have a catastrophic impact on a childs willingness to engage & continue. Their desire to carry on once the FLOW has been interrupted Come put an apron on please! WHY ? Do we see the mess before we truly SEE the CHILD Further reading from our blog. https://www.thecuriosityapproach.com//do-aprons-stop-a-chi

18.01.2022 Lets not forget that our beautiful children also notice the dramatic life changes and stress related to Covid19. Here are some ways to help our little ones cope.

17.01.2022 A sneak peak of our week here at Mels little Munchkins! Further enhancing our colour and shape recognition with a little game that one of our munchkins brought in to share. Climbing, jumping, balancing and exploring our trial and error skills on the giant foam blocks. Reading stories and enjoying some quiet time in the teepee while listening to the rain. ... Exploring our new Around the world dolls. Music and Movement, dancing to The wiggles while playing the guitar. Construction! Building houses and super tall towers. Exploring our imaginations through role play, also enhancing our communication and turn taking skills. Further developing our gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination with ball games. Group times consist of speaking about good hygiene and why we wash our hands before and after we touch our food. Reminders to sneeze and cough into our elbows. Lots of stories and Songs along with of course, dancing! Its so good to see most of our friends back! I have missed all those smiley faces. I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend!

17.01.2022 What a great little activity that is suited to all ages! We used two recycled tins and some loose parts of all shapes a sizes to create an experience that further develops the childrens fine motor and cognitive skills all while having endless amounts of fun. Here are two of our Munchkins also using their trial and error to find where each item fits. Once both tins are full they build up the strength in their little hands and fingers as they open the lid and tip the loose parts out to start again.

17.01.2022 A new little addition to our collection of resources, A light pad! Also added some nature laminates and colour clouds. Thea and Kye testing it all out tonight before we show all our little Munchkins tomorrow. Safe to say they approve!

07.01.2022 Life is always more funny upside down! Looking at each other through different angles. There were lots and lots of laughs!

05.01.2022 This week, teachers and early childhood educators across the country will go into schools where they will interact with children of medical staff who are highly... exposed to COVID-19. They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They probably wont even be given hand gel. They wont get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the children in their care dont know how scared they are; Scared for those children. Scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Thank you to all Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Early Childhood Educators and anyone else heading into a school this week to keep it running so that our amazing health workers and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and services can continue. You too are heroes! *Copy & paste to show appreciation for all Teachers, Early Childhood Educators and School Support Staff continuing their duties at this time*

03.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD ENROLLED IN CHILD CARE: Whether youve lost your job or are keeping your child home to prevent the spread of cor...onavirus, please dont un-enrol your child. If youve lost your job or are working reduced hours, theres financial support you can access. Please dont just pull your child out of care. To access financial support, log on to MyGov and apply for temporary financial hardship (see below screenshot). This means the government may pay your childcare fees IN FULL for 13 weeks. If youre choosing to keep your child home, the government has extended the number of allowable absences that can be covered by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This may support you to keep your child home and still receive the CCS. Remember, keeping your child enrolled will help your child care service to continue paying educators. It will also ensure that your child care service doesnt go bankrupt and that you can return to work when our economy is ready to get back on track.

01.01.2022 Its the little things that make this job the most rewarding and best job ever! Brightening my day when needing it the most. Thank you Myla and family I know there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment. ... The feeling that a lot of educators are having of being undervalued by our government. The most important thing to remember through this very difficult time is that we are valued! By the children we care for and the families of those children. Us educators mean the world to those children, we build strong securing relationships with those children. We care for them, nurture them, support them and help them grow and learn each and every day! The children, their families, THEY VALUE US! they are grateful for us! They know our worth and support us through the hard times. So Thank you to all the families that are so supportive, so caring and know our worth as educators. HAPPY EASTER!

01.01.2022 Great story to read to our little ones about this crazy time to help them understand.

01.01.2022 Spent the weekend cleaning and rearranging our indoor play area! We now have a small parts play area where our older munchkins can explore smaller items and activities to continue extending on their fine motor and cognitive skills. Our younger munchkins can also join in under supervision.
