20.01.2022 N E W M O O N : Today is a new moon. I always find that things really do change leading up to a new moon. It's often less draining on my energy too compared to a full moon. Anyone else feel the phases of the moon? : I have to say the last three weeks have been huge and have bought many new things. I turned 45! I think I'm still 25 most of the time, so that was shock haha. ... : We bought a house, (the one we already live in). We bought a new car because the one we bought right before COVID died. And, I got a new job. We were also deeply saddened by losing a close family member. Its been a big three weeks. A roller coaster of emotions. : So take the time today to sit, breath and focus your mind one breath at a time. 18.01.2022 Is it time to just let it all go? I'm clearly enjoying myself here! haha : Seriously, its time to ditch the diet and the ridiculous ideals of how women should look. This is 2021! Not the 50's. : We are privileged to be aging, we have so much to give the younger women of today. There are so many more important things to do in this world other than spending too much time worrying about what we look like. ... : I'm reading #phosphorescence at the moment @juliabaird talks about a paragraph from another book she has read where the author describes how women just look at themselves like body parts that need fixing or changing instead of looking at ourselves as whole women. It's crazy right?! : I've said this before but the very fact that you have an able body should fill you with gratitude and the drive to keep your body moving and our minds healthy rather than filling up on self-loathing. : Passionate rant over. : Today try looking in the mirror and widening the aperture. 18.01.2022 Keep calm and carry on. I'm fine. I'll be fine. Just let it go, It's OK. I can handle it. Yeah, good thanks. : Insert eye roll. Look, sometimes we do have to keep calm and carry on but ever feel like you are about to boil over and you don't know why? Was it just the smallest bit of straw that broke the camels back? : How long have you been pushing those feelings down then? How long have you kept calm and carried on? Do you just ignore yo...ur feelings and say to yourself "I'll be fine". Or why can't I just let it go? : The surprising thing is that acknowledging your feelings won't make you explode if you stop to give them the attention they are asking for on a regular basis. I think we push them down for fear of losing our shit or not being able to carry on. : It's in fact the opposite. Once I stop and recognise what's happening I can work it out, deal with it and let it go, then carry on. This is a valuable mindfulness practice you can weave into your practice called the R.A.I.N technique by @tarabrach : It's draining to keep ignoring your feelings. 17.01.2022 We love @granddesignstv in our house! We have watched it for years and now we can start to make our own grand design for our family and we are so excited! But I digress. : The fabulous @kevin.mccloud1 said this in an episode years ago and it has always stuck with me because, as some of you know I am a recovering perfectionist ;) : It comes to mind when perfection Pam rears her head. 11.01.2022 You may be wondering what made jump ship from teaching clients in a studio environment to teaching online. : Six years ago I moved out of Sydney to the Central Coast. I had a large Pilates studio in Sydney and for almost ten years I worked my butt off. : A big chunk of it as a single mother. ... : I was exhausted and burnt out by the time I sold the business and I got sick a lot! I mean a cold sore every other week and whatever other virus or cold or flu that was going around. I coped it. : I had run myself into the ground and my fatigue was unbearable. : I could barely function. : In the crucial part of selling my studio, I got sick. Very sick. But I didn't even know it at the time and I had gone for a 7km run that morning unknowing. : I only mentioned my cough and 'bite' to the doctor that day, because I was there having my youngest daughter seen as she was unwell. I was sent home to bed, in shock with shingles and a chest infection : I wasn't listening to my body. It was time to wake up. : This is when I turned to mindfulness meditation. I had meditated on and off for years but mindfulness meditation felt like a simple approach that really worked for me. : Just me, my breath, my thoughts and my body. : Over time I began to notice changes in my behaviour I was no longer reacting to things I was able to pause then act thoughtfully. : I began to see the patterns in my behaviour that got me to that run down place, and from here I was able to start changing them. : It taught me how to look after myself the way my body so desperately needed me to. : I became more mindful and compassionate towards myself. : And I began to live in flow with my body and not pushing back against what it actually needed. : The journey was long, in fact, it took me five years. I had many setbacks along the way. When I pushed my body too hard with exercise I'd get sick again. 08.01.2022 Some of you might read this and think well, of course you can! However, I think most of the time we associate stress with feelings of unhappiness. There most certainly have been times in my life where I felt unhappy and stressed. Sometimes a small amount of stress can make you more productive as long as it's not prolonged, but recently, I have had the odd experience of feeling happy, content and stressed. : I am stressed because I am busier than I have been... for all of this year. I'm running around more and learning new things, we bought our house and we lost someone we loved dearly. I know I'm stressed because my sleep hasn't been great. It's not the best place to be but its a warning sign, and if I don't get that under control I will start experiencing physical symptoms like anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches and irritability. : So bad quality sleep is one of my cues to slow down, to stay in more, mimmise social time and maximise my me and family time, to read and relax where I can instead of watching TV or doing things around the house and get back on the Reishi from @superfeast (this really helps me to have deep sleep. Story coming on that later. : Your cues can be harder to recognise when in fact you are perfectly happy being busy and you don't want to slow down. Ignore them and you might find yourself stressed and unhappy. : I have other cues that present themselves when I need to slow down but I'll leave it there for today. What are your cue's?
