25.01.2022 This sums up the situation beautifully
24.01.2022 I found a wonderful photo that has a lot of memories for some. This photo was taken in the 1950's in New Zealand. All primary schools had the annual 'Calf Club Day'. In later years they included lambs. They were the most scrubbed and polished pets! Wonderful days and memories!
23.01.2022 The Baby Austin..... Although he had a good touch with animals, work horses and dogs, he keenly learnt about motors. Motor bikes, logging trucks, hauling logs out of the bush and then his first motor car, the famed baby Austin which appeared in these photos in the early thirties, remained their car until I was born in 1938.... Story and photos supplied by June Hull (daughter)
20.01.2022 A little thought for today....sad but unfortunately true too many times..
19.01.2022 Do you have wonderful old photos hiding away in the photo album? Beautiful portrait photos used to be taken - somewhat better than the old box brownie! The following photos would be around 1911. Just love the hair! Their existence was unknown until the passing of my grandfather......
19.01.2022 I have asked myself why am I wanting to do this? The simple reason being that my family very nearly lost a lot of family history and stories when my grandfather passed away. After much scribing by my mother she managed to detail a lot of anecdotes just before his death. On creating a book for her 80th birthday I realised that not only did I have a lot of very old photographs but stories that Id never heard! This is when I realised that memories are a Legacy and form part of your heritage and you should be able to pass on stories to family and friends. Many are interesting!
18.01.2022 Gregory Blaxland While working as a Jillaroo in 1986 for Greg (direct descendant of Greg Blaxland who crossed the Blue Mountains) I heard numerous stories about his farm, people, animals, etc. Just a quick outline..... Greg had a 4000 acre sheep farm which actually had 4000 sheep! The farm was called 'Wellanbah' which was situated one hour from Tamworth very close to a little place called 'Weabonga'. All that was there was a church!... On one occasion he recounted a story to me.... He was in his kitchen which had a lovely view of the garden. (mown by the horses and Dougall, the pet sheep, as the garden was about 2 acres) As he sat there nearly every pot fell off a shelf onto the stove and floor. The stove was a very old Carmichael wood stove. Next a brown snake dropped from the shelf and slithered behind the stove. Greg grabbed his gun as it was always loaded and kept in the adjacent dining room. Back to the stove he returned to try and find the snake. On looking down the back he spied a big knot hole in the wooden floor. Next he spotted the snake going across the lawn outside the kitchen window. He shot at the snake however it got away and he was left with a broken 'unopened' window! Sadly Greg passed away at the age of 98 in Tamworth. http://www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/EventViewTrainingDetails.asp
17.01.2022 Now this would make an amazing story to memorialise......photo taken in Gordon Street, Garbutt this morning. Jump starting a scooter.... That would have to be the best 'Deed of the Day' I've ever seen!

13.01.2022 Do you have old family photos tucked away in the bottom of a drawer? Do you know if there is a story behind it? Read my pinned post for more information.... This photo was taken approximately 77 years ago. It was a regular exercise (when they had the money!) to have professional portrait photos taken - particularly of their children.
12.01.2022 Check in tomorrow for the next story.....Check in tomorrow for the next story.....
10.01.2022 Memories can have a long life - look after them
08.01.2022 I found a wonderful photo that has a lot of memories for some. This photo was taken in the 1950s in New Zealand. All primary schools had the annual Calf Club Day. In later years they included lambs. They were the most scrubbed and polished pets! Wonderful days and memories!
07.01.2022 Lizzie was a well trained pianist who also played piano at the local hall for the silent movies. On visits to Mal's father's home his stepmother heard him playing on his mouth organ. She had been a music teacher and quickly realised he had a talent that should be nurtured. She bought him a violin and organised for him to have some tutoring at Cambridge near their dairy farm. The always kept that violin. I last remember hearing him play some of the lovely classical pieces he learnt in about 1947. Story supplied by June Hull
01.01.2022 Weabonga Church This is the church referred to in the Greg Blaxland story. A rather old building but plenty of character! (note the bow in the roof) Built in 1912 (photo taken 2008)
01.01.2022 My first post!!! As an example the following is one of the little stories that I found out (refer pinned post)..... Nobody knew this story about my great uncle - not even my Mother! "Malcolm's nearest brother, Ozzie (sounded better than Oswald!) died when riding his motorcycle one night, meeting a buggy which didn't carry a riding light on the near shaft of the buggy. He was run through by the shaft"... Circa 1917
