25.01.2022 It’s very worrying when you know or suspect someone you care about is experiencing domestic or family violence. During the coronavirus outbreak, some people hav...e experienced violence or abuse in their relationships for the first time, and others are experiencing an increase in the intensity of existing abusive and/or violent behaviour in their relationships. If someone you’re close to is at risk, knowing how to support them can make a real difference. For more information on what you can do to support someone who may be experiencing domestic violence, head to bb.org.au/3hEAn4k. For counselling and support in relation to violence or abuse, you can call 1800RESPECT.

12.01.2022 This is not a post that we ever wanted to make and our hearts are completely broken, we have no words that adequately expresses our pain, shock and hurt for the... news we have to share. The Tangentyere Women's Family Safety Group (TWFSG) are in mourning for our sister. R.Rubuntja was killed on Thursday 7th January 2021 in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) outside the Hospital. Her partner appeared in court today charged with murder. R.Rubuntja was one of the founding Leaders of the TWFSG and President of Anthepe Town Camp. We grieve now and then we mobilise, we will continue, it just may take a minute. We will be inspired by our sisters' legacy, we will not let her be forgotten and then we will ask you to stand with us against family and domestic violence.

Read more or download a detailed tip sheet to understand and unpack the gendered drivers here: https://www.partnersinprevention.org.au//gendered-drivers/ #GenderedDrivers #ViolenceAgainstWomen #ChangeTheStory

11.01.2022 Have you had a difficult conversation with a friend, family member, or colleague about gender equality or family violence? Resistance is a normal response to s...ocial change. However, if unmanaged, it can hinder progress to preventing violence against women and gender equality. To plan and manage conversations where you face resistance, you can tailor your response to the relationship you have with the person, whether they’re curious or disagreeable and the context you’re encountering resistance in. We’ve developed some evidence-based responses you can use to respond to common resistance questions or statements. Check them out here: https://www.partnersinprevention.org.au//responding-to-r/

10.01.2022 "In a recession just about every industry and occupation suffers, but some suffer more than others. This time round it has been low-paid women in the services sector and those with lower levels of education qualifications. And right now they have just had to deal with a $300 cut in their benefits."
