06.01.2022 On this day 24 years ago, in the early hours of the 3rd November 1996, The historic Como Hotel was engulfed in flames with 3 people reported trapped in the burn...ing building. Sutherland firefighters arrived on scene and were faced with the upper levels totally involved in flame. The crew performed a miraculous rescue under extreme fire conditions of two women and a child. Subsequently, Sutherland firefighters were awarded bravery commendations with one firefighter awarded the highest honour for NSW firefighters, the FRNSW Medal for Conspicuous Bravery. This medal has only been awarded 26 times in the history of FRNSW. #FRNSW #sutherlandshire #preparedforanything See more
