24.01.2022 So after 5 months, we had our first competition today at the SNSW MC Short Course meet, and Miss Rachael attempted the 200 freestyle and did a very good job, as she matched what she had done in her time trials. It was good to be back, and the club Vice Captain has asked to let everyone know that at the first meet you attend, have fun, enjoy yourself and dont worry about the times you swim.

23.01.2022 Good LUCK to all our swimmers competing at METSEA this weekend, we all believe in you.

22.01.2022 A great day was had at the Peakhurst 10 & Under Swim meet this afternoon, with a group of 6 swimmers representing Menai. Very good swims all around by the team, with Sienna enjoying her very first competitive meet and doing well, and the boys, Jaxson, Thomas K, Jaiden, Connor and Lachlan starting to implement what they have been learning in training. Lots of PBs were achieved by the group with Connor and Lachlan achieving QTs for the METSEA Junior Championships in February 2020 in some of the 100m events. Well done to all swimmers and thank you to the parents for your great support all day.

12.01.2022 So, that is a wrap on the 2019 NSW Senior State Age Championships for Rachael. A visit from ex Menai and now Australian swimmer Taylor Corry got things started. Swimming wise, Saturday started slowly, an improvement in National QT on Sunday, and an amazing swim to go 3 seconds under National QT for 100 Back on Monday. One happy swimmer, a very happy and pleased coach and very excited supporters. The hard work begins after Christmas for National preparations

10.01.2022 Latest news: COVID-19 Last night, Swimming NSW revised its current advice on COVID-19 in light of recent government recommendations. This includes:... From 16 March 2020 (today), Swimming NSW advises against hosting any swimming competition in NSW for a period of 30 days. SNSW has postponed the 2020 NSW Junior State Championship. SNSW has instructed all staff (not including pool deck coaches) not to attend NSW Swimming Programs for a period of 30 days. Our advice of 8 March, relating to self-quarantining and international travel, is also updated to now include all international travel to any country, NOT just those countries listed. We will continue to update the swimming community via our dedicated COVID-19: SNSW advice page on our website. Please visit the link below to keep up with the latest information and updates as the situation continues to unfold.

10.01.2022 The 2020 Metsea Speedo Sprint and Junior Championships are done and dusted. Firstly, congratulations to all who participated in the Speedo Sprints on Saturday under very trying (hot) conditions, a great effort by all, and very very happy and proud coach for your efforts. Second, thank you to Michael Mccoy, Katherine Perkins, Ernie Christensen, and Vice Captain Rachael Vella for your help and assistance in organising the kids to allow me to concentrate on coaching. Third, cong...ratulations to Lucinda McCoy, Joshua Webb, Sophie McGloin, Mary Wallace, Jasmine Kiddle, Tamara Dunkley, Lachlan Mackenzie and Ella Howland in qualifying for various 100m and 200m events, a great effort. Lots of PBs done and a big shout out to Joshua for his Bronze medal in the 200FS, with an impressive 12 second PB. Finally, thank you parents for bringing the kids, the additional marquees and supporting each other, I know it was a long day but you all passed the swim meet test with flying colours, this was a once a year meet and I hope you all come back next year. See you all at training. See more

10.01.2022 Another year, another swim meet. These two young ladies represented Menai Swim Club at the Metro South West meet today and did themselves proud despite not having trained for two weeks. Back to training this week and better results to come as the year progresses

10.01.2022 Congratulations to Miss Sophie D for completing the Metro South West 5km swim today at Penrith, it was a great effort for your first attempt. When asked, after the race, if she enjoyed it and would do another one, she responded by saying yes, but not right now, which induced a big smile and laugh from the coach.

10.01.2022 Well, that is a wrap for 2020. This young group of swimmers ventured out to Sydney International Regatta Centre at Penrith today and competed in the SNSW 2.5km JX Open Water event. Lots of fun and bravado before with some exhaustion and lots of smiles after the event.... Your coach doesn’t care where you came, it was that you gave it a go and did your best which makes him very happy and proud to be your coach. Just think only 12 more months of preparation and training to get better for next year.......... Thank you to our Club Captain and Vice Captain, Rachael and Noah for supporting the swimmers and parents for supporting the swimmers. Have a great Christmas and see you all in January 2021

09.01.2022 For those MSA parents, attending this meet, can I strongly suggest that if you want to be able to talk to your kids during the session, then this is the best way to do it, because under the guidelines, swimmers will be on one side of the pool and parents on the other, with neither able to meet until the end of the session. Please a good way to improve your skills

05.01.2022 A fun day out at Des Renford Aquatic Centre for the Maccabi Swim Club 12&Under swum meet, was had by this group of swimmers and their supporters. First meet for Thomas, Jasmine and Brielle who enjoyed themselves. Lots of PBs and plenty of medals going to Lachlan (way too many for any 1 person), Charles, Hayley, Brielle, Claire, Jordyn, Geordi and Lauren. Thanks to my faithful assistant Debbie Mac who started the warmup and advised that no one did a turn the same, welcome to the world of coaching Deb. Thanks to parents for making the trek to Maroubra

05.01.2022 Day 1 session 2, 50m backstroke, cold, wet, windy and a fantastic 2 second PB in some very trying conditions, with 4th place overall. Great swim, now for the 50m freestyle tomorrow, hopefully in better conditions, as a soggy, waterlogged coach is not a happy coach.......

04.01.2022 These 3 swimmer plus Sophie Mc and Hayley Johnston enjoyed a nice day out at the Auburn Swim Club meet on Sunday 19th. Good swims done by all with a few PBs, and gaining an understanding of what is expected and how what we do at training reflects how we swim at a meet.

04.01.2022 Menai Swim Club has 18 swimmers achieve the criteria, which is a huge step up from the last couple of years. Congratulations to all swimmers who made the criteria. Once I know more details I will contact the individual swimmers concerned

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Rachael Vella who won 3 Gold Medals at the Swimming NSW Multi Class Championships held at SOPAC today. Given the limited training we have had recently, it was a great effort by Rachael, especially the 200IM, done 10 minutes after the 100 back (who suggested that schedule??).

04.01.2022 The first Long Course Metropolitan Championships for Miss Rachael, and a mixed bag of results. Two weeks of hard work ahead before State Championships

03.01.2022 Wishing all MENAI Swim Club members and families a very Happy Easter

02.01.2022 A group of 18 swimmers from Menai Swim Club plus parents and our Club Captain Emily E, attended the Auburn Swim Club meet today. A good fun day was had with lots of PBs and a few DQs as well (maybe the Coach does know a thing or two, so maybe we should listen more). A big shoutout to Abigail C, who was proud to have achieved 3 PBs from 3 races at her first external meet, also to Michael and Jacob C, and Tamara and Sophie D who also attended their first external meet. Thank you to the parents for assisting with timekeeping and to Club Capt and Vice Capt, Emily and Rachael who assisted with making sure all swimmers got to marshalling on time. Next step, is to practice the little things that the coach spoke to you about today and work hard to make next meet better

01.01.2022 Swimmers and Parents, The information below will give you an idea of where you can go with your swimming, if you continue to train hard. Please have areas of the below and if you have any questions come and speak with me.

01.01.2022 A fun day of racing with this group of swimmers at the Swimwest short course meet today at SOPAC. Lots of pb’s achieved, which given the two week holiday they have enjoyed, was excellent and shows that training is working. See you all at training this week as we get back into it and prepare for the short course season
