25.01.2022 Treatment with a smile (albeit under a mask these days )!

25.01.2022 Some of the Crowther Family isolation injuries! We are lucky to live with our Physiotherapist, but for those of you who dont, our door at Menai District Physio is open to you. The door is actually literally open to allow good air flow, and our Physios and Receptionists are thoroughly cleaning between patients and shifts. We just ask you bring your own shorts and towels and dont attend if you are feeling unwell or have had contact with someone unwell.

24.01.2022 Cricket Rego is now open. Here is a word from the IMCC President: https://www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details As I have mentioned before, we are relying heavily on the contribution of current players to promote the sport and the club this year. I would like to offer anyone who brings in a new player to the club a $30 cash back. Just make sure the new player mentions you when they register. All new players get a free cap, playing shirt and training shirt.

22.01.2022 It wont be long now. Heres hoping

20.01.2022 Announcement: Menai District Physiotherapy remains OPEN and both Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology services remain AVAILABLE & ACTIVE. Massage Therapy services, however, have been placed ON HOLD for the foreseeable future. ... In wisdom, weve taken this measure to reduce the number of patients through the clinic on a given day. This will allow everyone to practice adequate social distancing in the waiting room and throughout the practice. We desire to provide the essential health services of Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology during this season, in an effort to do our part to keep the pressure off local GPs and hospitals, as much as possible. Cancelling massage services will increase the probability that our essential healthcare services can continue to run. Thanks for your understanding everyone. Hopefully it wont be too long before everything is back to normal.

17.01.2022 All too common a problem this one! #choosephysio

16.01.2022 Gday everyone! With winter sport finally about to kick off, your pre-season prep to avoid an all too common knee injury is crucial! Knee injuries are prevalent in sports that involve rapid changes of direction, deceleration and landing. Potential injuries can span the spectrum of acute traumatic ligament sprains (most notably the ACL) and meniscus tears, to more gradual onset overuse tendinopathies or patella tracking issues, due to poor underlying biomechanics or sudden inc...reases in training load. Preseason or prehab programs aim to address any identifiable functional deficits in an effort to prevent onset of a diagnosable injury, seeking to build sport-specific, safe and optimal movement patterns. Evidence-based injury prevention programs like Soccers FIFA 11+, Netball Australia Knee Program, and Footy First are examples of such sport-specific programs. Your MDP Physiotherapist can assess you for any of the previously mentioned risk factors and use these findings to prescribe an individually tailored exercise program that will complement your pre-existing training routine. You should aim to integrate these prehab exercises into your current schedule 2-3x a week for best results. If you are looking for assistance in this regard, make an appointment on 9543 0199. Happy training!

16.01.2022 Amendment: Patients, Please bring x2 towels (large) to your consultations from now on, and your own shorts (preferably loose). ... Thanks for the consideration!

16.01.2022 Exercise is good for you!

14.01.2022 Community physiotherapists can contribute to minimising the impact of COVID-19 by keeping individuals healthy in the community and out of hospital. With the hold on non-essential, elective surgery it is even more important that those individuals who are affected continue to receive treatment and support. Kim Gibson, Chair, Physiotherapy Board of Australia Menai District Physiotherapy remains open and is continuing to service the needs of our local community in accordance w...ith our expertise. The Prime Minister has indicated the efforts to control the outbreak of COVID-19 will last for months. Healthcare during this time is therefore encouraged and your physical function is an important aspect of it. As your local physiotherapists and exercise physiologist we will continue to do our best to provide you with the vital, effective, safe and sanitary care you need in this season.

14.01.2022 Regarding Physiotherapy at MDP, going forward our Physios will now be working in two independent teams - Team 1 & Team 2 will work in isolation to each other, without any overlap or association, on alternate days. See below... Monday, Wednesday & Friday: Pete, Mel & Ivana ... Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday: Andy & Brooke This measure further aims to keep patient flow through the clinic at a safe level and significantly reduces the risk of cross-contamination between teams. Additionally, all physio beds are being cleaned between successive patients and all common areas/equipment are being cleaned regularly.

09.01.2022 A helpful chart on Coronavirus symptoms...

09.01.2022 COVID-19 update: Morning everyone, Menai District Physiotherapy remains OPEN. ... As primary point of contact health professionals we are committed to continuing to care for all in need of our services and/or professional guidance at this time. It is imperative that we, along with other healthcare providers, play our role in keeping pressure off doctors and hospitals during this season. If you have a neuromuscular, soft-tissue, joint, bone, orthopaedic, pre/post-operative or neurological injury/dysfunction, we are here to provide you with assistance. We simply ask that you stick to federal advice and dont present for treatment if ANY of the following applies: 1. Youve travelled internationally within the last 14 days 2. Youve had close contact with anyone who has travelled internationally within the last 14 days 3. Youre suffering from ANY of the following: 1. Fever 2. Cough 3. Shortness of breath 4. Sore throat From our end, you can have confidence we are providing care in keeping with the necessary high hygiene standards outlined for those in healthcare at this time. For those seeking clarification, as of 12pm today, federal policies on where and how we are permitted to relate to one another, now specifically restrict us from gathering in social spaces like clubs, bars, restaurants, casinos and the like - places where people traditionally socialize together. This is a necessary measure on the Governments part to flatten the COVID-19 incidence curve in Australia. It does not, however, pertain to the provision of healthcare services in the private setting. Therefore Menai District Physiotherapy will continue to provide healthcare services to our community during this period.

02.01.2022 Morning everyone From today, our MDP clinicians will be wearing a mask at work. In keep with the Premiers recent remarks, we implement this measure as the fourth line of defense in our effort in NSW to hold our ground against COVID-19, in light of the recent outbreak in neighboring Victoria. If you feel comfortable to join us in this endeavor, we now encourage you as our patients to begin wearing a mask when inside the clinic as well. Apparently, when both the clinic...ian and the patient are wearing a mask, it is that little bit harder for the virus to be transmitted. Please bring your own if you can, along with your two towels. A surgical mask will be available at the clinic for the cost of $2 if you need. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation 2234. We deeply appreciate your support.
