25.01.2022 With tomorrow’s temps set to hit mid-30s, it is STRONGLY advised to make sure you bring LOTS of water with you to your game. We will be monitoring the temperature within the Indoor Centre and at the Church and will call off games if needed. Stay cool stay hydrated

20.01.2022 This Saturday 7 November 2020 we say goodbye, good luck, and a huge THANK YOU to a very important member of our Menai Dragons family Stephanie Jones Steph has given over a decade of her time to our Club to help get our junior program where it is today. She’s been our go-to-girl for all our administrative tasks and her contribution to our sport is a great achievement on its own. 18.01.2022 SATURDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2020 From this Saturday 14 November 2020, our Saturday Junior Competition will be played across TWO VENUES!! We will be running our competition from Menai Indoor Sports Centre & Menai Anglican Church, Barden Ridge: https://www.google.com//data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x6b12c0fa... Utilising this facility will allow us to ensure that as many teams as possible can have court-time on a Saturday, rather than rostering unnecessary byes each week. We've decreased the number of byes from 19 teams each week, to just 5 teams. This week's draw will go online shortly. Please ensure you check the draw each week to see which venue your team is playing at!! Please also share this message with your team.

The Government has announced a return date, and now it’s up to the State Government, Office of Sport, Local Council, and the individual sporting bodies to work together to map out how we restart. We’ll keep you updated and informed along the way

14.01.2022 It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for (well, almost)!!! We are currently in talks with Sutherand Shire Council and Menai Indoor Sports Centre regarding the reopening of facilities and restarting competitions. As soon as we get the green light, we’re back on the court! For now, we need your help! At the moment, we are taking Expressions of Interest for an 11-week Saturday Junior Competition commencing Saturday 18 July 2020. If you’re interested in joining, head to our websi...te and complete the online registration form. We must have all regos by 11 July 2020. Details as to costs are yet to be finalised and we will publish that info really soon. We will make an announcement about our Senior comp very soon. Our aim is to bring basketball back in a COVID-safe environment and we look forward to being back on court with you guys soon!!

12.01.2022 Basketball NSW has provided an update on what our sport will look like as restrictions start to ease. As this refers to outdoor games, and with the Menai Indoor Sports Centre still closed until further notice, we sit and wait patiently until the coach subs us all back on!!

12.01.2022 From Saturday 28 November 2020, we are pleased to announce the relaxation of some of our COVID restrictions. They include: 1. Allowing siblings to sit courtside with parents 2. Allowing teams to wait courtside following their training sessions 3. Allowing the borrowing of players from lower divisions... Please review our COVID Safety Plan on our website. Please also note new changes which will require all sign in via the QR Code. 12.01.2022 LEVEL 0 - COMMUNITY COACHES COURSE Any current or prospective coaches interested in attending a Community Coaches Course (formerly Level 0 Course) is invited to attend at Sutherland District Basketball Association on Wednesday 11 November 2020 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. 11.01.2022 Reminder This is a reminder that all players must be registered through our online system linked below. Players must register every season, even if the player has played with us previously or plays basketball elsewhere. In the coming weeks, we will be tracking players that have not registered or paid. Players that are not financial will not be allowed to take the court. We are accepting payments at the front desk each Saturday (EFTPOS or cash). Don't forget to use your Act...ive Kids Vouchers for $100 off all fees. 10.01.2022 Big thank you to everyone who has been registering online for the upcoming Winter 2020 Season. Please keep it up, and spread the word - Basketball is Back Saturday 18 July 2020. A quick note, when registering multiple children, you will need to use a different email address for each child as the system will only recognise one email address. If you registered multiple children already, send us a quick email and we will confirm your registration. 09.01.2022 We're still working hard to restart our junior competition as soon as we are given the green light. Saturday 18 July 2020 is our expected start date for our 11-week Winter Competition, but we need your help!! If you're interested in being part of our Winter Comp, you must register online before Saturday 11 July 2020. Payments will be made at the stadium once the competition starts. 07.01.2022 IMPORTANT SATURDAY JUNIOR COMP ANNOUNCEMENT The draw for this Saturday 31 October has been released on our website. You will see that a number of teams have been given the week off. This is not ideal. It is not our intention to have teams sit out. Hopefully, it will be for this week only. We have seen another really big Summer Competition come our way. It's a great problem to have, but a problem nonetheless. As a grassroots provider of basketball, we would hate to turn peop...le away from our sport so we will do everything we can to get people on court. We are in the process of acquiring more court time around the local area (Bangor, Lucas Heights, Menai, Sutherland) with the intention of rotating games between venues each week. Our priority is to keep it local in the 2234 area only. We should have confirmation of this in the next few days. Until then, we will need to rotate around the courts that we have. We have allowed for training time on the current draw which we see is a must. That's what Menai Dragons is all about. We're a junior program and we owe it to our beginners to provide a training session to them. So for now, we will make it work. We ask that you please be patient with us. The current COVID-19 restrictions on venue capacities is a separate issue which we will also be addressing. Should we move to a multi-venue structure, we may also be on the lookout for some more volunteers to assist us, so if you're interested in helping out, please let us know. We will do our best to keep you all updated along the way. We are so lucky to have so many passionate kids join our competition this season. We will do our best to accommodate everyone. 06.01.2022 Just a reminder, this Saturday 19 December 2020 is our LAST WEEK of games for 2020. SO YES, WE DO PLAY THIS WEEKEND We will then take a break and be back on Saturday 30 January 2021

04.01.2022 Our Menai Dragons COVID-Safety Plan was approved by Sutherland Shire Council prior to re-opening the Indoor Centre and is the foundation upon which we were allowed to build our competition. Saturday Junior Basketball is conditional upon all participants adhering to our strict COVID-Safety Measures such as: 1. Only coaches and managers can be courtside 2. All parents must sign in upon entry 3. All participants must sanitise their hands before and after their games... 4. Only COVID-Safe and cleaned basketballs can be used 5. Only the scoreboard is to be used to score games, no scoresheets, in order to minimise the sharing of stationary and equipment 6. There is to be no borrowing of equipment or uniforms 7. We must ensure all players are registered through the online database to maintain contact details 8. Any participant who is sick must stay at home, and any participant displaying flu-like symptoms in the Indoor Centre will be asked to leave We must continue to implement these rules in order to continue to run our competition. We’d like to thank all of our Menai Dragons family members for working with us during these times and abiding by our COVID-Safety Measures. We will continue to implement these measures throughout our Winter 2020 Season.

02.01.2022 A lot of our Menai Dragons Family have been asking about the Club’s COVID-Safety Measures, in particular, our stance on limiting spectators to our games. BNSW have released the statement below which mentions the One Parent One Child Rule. Unfortunately, the seating capacity inside our stadium does not allow us to ensure that we are abiding by social distancing rules if we follow the OPOC Rule. Therefore, as part of our COVID-Safety Plan which was submitted to Council prior ...to restarting, we had to make the decision to limit spectators courtside to coaches and managers only. Courts 3 & 1 allow for more spectators than Courts 4 & 2 due to seating, but so as to not play favourites with any teams, we have taken this stance for all. Stay safe, and thank you to all participants who continue to adhere to these new rules

01.01.2022 MONDAY & TUESDAY NIGHT - CORONAVIRUS UPDATE Most of you may have now heard, the Menai Indoor Sports Centre has been closed until further notice in accordance with the Federal Government's recommendations to close indoor sporting venues. As a result, the Club has made a decision regarding the finalisation of the Monday & Tuesday Night Summer 2019/20 Competitions.... The teams currently standing in First Place on the ladder will be named Competition Winners in each division. The Competition Coordinator will circulate this information to team managers. This will bring an end to the Summer 2019/20 Competition. The Club is putting together a list of all Monday & Tuesday Night teams which had paid in advance any court fees for the Summer 2019/20 Competition. We are prepared to either funds these fees, or credit them towards the next season. Any refunds to be made will be done once we have access to the Indoor Sports Centre once again. Please note, we will honour the refunds, but in due course. We encourage all teams wishing to play in the Winter 2020 Monday or Tuesday Night Competitions to submit Team Nominations to the Competition Coordinator by email ([email protected]). We will not be taking payments at this time. Once we have been given permission to re-commence, we will contact teams who have submitted Team Nomination Forms. Should we need to reduce the competition, we will make that decision at a later date. We thank you all again for being patient with us during this time, and we hope to be back on the court very soon.
