23.01.2022 Increased smoke in Messent Conservation Park (Coorong) Significant smoke will be seen this evening near the Messent Conservation Park as CFS and DEW crews work ...to contain a 1250ha fire in the park. The fire currently poses no risk to the community. Crews will work this evening to burn containment lines within the park boundaries, and use heavy machinery to reinforce these lines with mineral earth breaks. DEW crews will remain on the scene for the next few days to monitor fire activity. This fire began on Saturday and is believed to have started from a camp fire. See more

21.01.2022 Fire Danger Ratings are an indicator of how dangerous a bushfire could be if it did occur. It is not a predictor of how likely a bushfire is to occur. Do you know what the different ratings mean?

16.01.2022 Residents of Meningie Coorong District Council in conjunction with the Meningie Country Fire Service would like to advise the residents of Meningie that the...y will be conducting controlled burns in the township. Controlled burns reduce the fire risk and reduce fuel loads prior to the next fire danger season. Burns will begin from Monday 18 May 2020, subject to appropriate weather conditions to minimise any problems that may be caused by smoke. If you have any questions in regards to the above matter please contact Council’s Fire Prevention Officer on 1300 758 277 during normal office hours.

15.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

13.01.2022 Back in to training.

11.01.2022 Wow, what a way to kick off to Fire Danger Season yesterday . Scorching temperatures and dry lightening had most of our crews out all day and late into the night. Huge shout out to all the Private Fire Units fighting alongside us - we definitely can’t do it on our own and your skill and local knowledge are invaluable on the fire ground. Just a reminder when entering the fire ground in a personal vehicle:... Ensure your vehicle is fitted with a UHF and Rotating Beacon Call up UHF Channel 10 on arrival and departure Protect yourself by wearing appropriate clothing - Boots, Long Sleeve workshirt and trousers (cotton or natural fibre is best). Let’s get through this fire season safely together (Laura) https://safecom-files-v8.s3.amazonaws.com//handbook_for_fa via Harrison Tiver
