22.01.2022 Limestone Coast police will today be enforcing Operation Trace to remind the public of their obligation to scan COVID-19 QR codes. Operation Trace will inclu...de the use of plain clothes police officers to ensure that people are checking in and providing their contact details when they enter a business or attend a public activity. Limestone Coast Police Superintendent Phil Hoff said whilst police have seen complacency in the community the police will be taking an educational approach. "We want to keep people safe and we can far better do that when we encourage people to do the right thing as opposed to punishing people for doing the wrong thing," Superintendent Phil Hoff said. "We will be reminding people and we'll be educating people - but if people want to become intransigent in their stance about doing the QR code they can look forward to $1,060 fine. "Organisations or businesses that are failing to manage the environment properly will look at a $5,060 fine. "People are taking some of our protections a little bit for granted at the moment, they're overlooking their responsibilities to keep not only themselves safe, but their family safe, and the easy way of doing that is to QR code in when you go somewhere." To date no fines have been issued to Limestone Coast businesses or residents.
