24.01.2022 We have a little good news. We can do 'click and collect' from Monday May 4 (Star Wars Day!). We still can't place holds yet so we're restricted to what's in our library (which is still pretty good). You can look for items on the catalogue and email (or phone) your requests in. We're also happy to look for you. ... Collections and drop-offs from the front office only, please (the school and library are still closed to the public). It will operate from Monday to Friday only. You can ring on Saturday but can't collect until Monday. Please let us know when you are coming in so we can arrange to have your items waiting for you. Hopefully we'll have better news for you all in the not too-distant future.
24.01.2022 Meningie Library is reopening! Our doors will open from 10am this Saturday. During weekdays hours will be limited at this stage: 3.45 pm to 4.30 pm. ... Saturday will be 10 am to 1pm. 23.01.2022 When a library has a board game enthusiast working for it the library will eventually start a game collection! You can find our games here: https://meningielibrarynewitems.wordpress.com/board-game-c/... Some have been bought by the library and some donated. We'll have games for a variety of age ranges. The games are organised so that you can identify the components easily. Please check the games carefully before returning them. Many of the games aren't playable if some pieces are missing.
23.01.2022 Meningie Library is always open online.
23.01.2022 We hope everyone is pleased to have the library reopened (even if it is at reduced hours). Items ordered from other libraries are starting to arrive but it will be slower than usual for a while. All library visitors *must* now fill in a Covid-19 site entry form whenever you visit.
16.01.2022 Like author talks? With libraries only just re-opening you'd think that author book talks aren't happening. But they are - online. Marion library (in its 'Library through the lens' program : visit https://www.marion.sa.gov.au//wha/library-through-the-lens for the full program) is hosting Rachel Mead as she talks about her book 'The application of pressure' that discusses Australia's emergency services. Free (but registration essential - https://lttlrachaelmead.eventbrite....com.au) Thursday June 11 7pm - 8pm
14.01.2022 It's been a while since this has been out. Today, we're open 10am to 1pm. During the week it's 3.45pm - 4.30pm only. Social distancing remains in place, folks!
14.01.2022 You may have seen on the news that libraries in South Australia can re-open from Monday. We need to have confirmation from the Department for Education that the public can enter the school grounds so we will continue with collection and drop-off at the front office until then. We anticipate that holds from other libraries can be placed soon but we will let you know as things change. Meanwhile, we have been ordering and processing new items and they are looking forward to be...ing borrowed. https://www.abc.net.au//sa-to-reopen-as-no-new-co/12228898

10.01.2022 We still await information on public access to the site before we can open to the public. However, you can still pick up and return at the front office. We can also order items from other libraries again!
04.01.2022 We had a local history question here earlier today about the origins of the Meningie Area School logo. We didn't find a lot but we did find that it was designed by Ruth Pappas for the Meningie Higher Primary School in 1956. We also know she would have been about 15/16 at the time because we also found a letter that she wrote to 'Aunt Dorothy' in the 'Adelaide Chronicle' in 1951 (she was 11). You can find her letter in the digital newspaper archive on Trove at the National Li...brary of Australia: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/93858052
04.01.2022 After further advice from the Department for Education we have had to change our weekday hours: 3.45pm to 4.30pm Saturday remains 10am to 1pm... These are likely to remain in place until June.
01.01.2022 Our colleagues at Public Library Services have been spending their time putting together lists of resources that you might find useful and here are some of those. This 'Home & Garden' list (https://sapln.overdrive.com/collection/1065922) is a collection of titles on gardening, home design and decor, craft, and cookery. This list includes eBooks and some audio books. Library staff across SA have also put together their favourite Quarantine reading lists. Those for adults are ...here: https://sapln.overdrive.com/collection/1063526 Kids and teens reading can be found here: https://sapln.overdrive.com/collection/1063526 Also during April you can read (or re-read) or listen to the first Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) without having to wait: https://sapln.overdrive.com/media/791363?cid=1060881 The audio book is superbly read by the inimitable Stephen Fry. The best way to enjoy these is through Libby - download the app and explore our growing collections. Looking for some good story time sessions? These sessions have been uploaded by various SA public libraries. You can check them out here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist
01.01.2022 Those of you who like our eMagazines will be regular users of Pressreader. Of course, Pressreader doesn't have everything. So the folks at Public Library Services have bought subscriptions to 11 new magazines, including Woman's Day and Rolling Stone. You can see the full list here: https://sapln.overdrive.com/library/magazines Best of all, you don't need yet another app to read them. Look for them in your Libby or Overdrive apps (whichever one you use to read or eBooks).... The more you read them, the more likely they will get more. So read away!
