24.01.2022 Men's Health issues relating to Men's Health Physiotherapy Group

17.01.2022 Ok, PT peeps. Need some advice. Have a chronic complex pain pt, 15 years old with Pudendal Neuralgia/Coccydynia stemming from severe chronic constipation ,leading to fistulisation and 18/12 of school missed...in combo with numerous skateboard falls leading to micro-trauma of his coccyx. With the aid of PFM downtraining and relaxation ,Yoga techniques etc, we have had about 50% improvement in last 6 weeks, but QOL is far from perfect Question: Does anyone have experience with resection of the coccyx as family are currently been advised to consider this? I am researching papers and have found very good information but numbers are low.... 79% recovery reported in coccexctomy....(that could be my word- computer doesn't like my spelling).... BUT what are the REAL figures on the street? Your experience, help would be appreciated. Thanks.

16.01.2022 Another question, more related to Male Health, but I'm figuring the knowledge base will come from Women's Health Physiotherapists, particularly those with many years of experience... It's a nasty thing called Peyronnies Disease and is becoming increasingly evident in my post-prostatectomy patients. Curvature of the penis leads to an inability to have sexual intercourse in severe cases or will cause great discomfort for women in milder cases. Generally understood as reduced ...blood flow to the corpus cavernosum contributing to the build up of fibrotic tissue, the contributing factors can be multi-factorial. Cardio-Vascular disease, rising age, injury during vigorous sexual activity but most notably in my caseload, as a result of reduced 'housekeeping erections' following radical prostatectomy.(1500 average housekeeping(nocturnal) erections/year that is). Seems men are coming out of the woodwork- literally- in recent months seeking advice from our multi-disciplinary clinic. As surgery is not a viable option in most cases, as a Men's Health Physiotherapist, I have been asked to look into appropriate Physiotherapy treatment modalities. Nb for a long time it has been assumed that the ICI penile injections cause this problem , but only recently has this been ruled out. A younger pt with better CV health seems to be much more effected than an older pt with atherosclerosis etc... Interestingly, over dinner with Sarah Haag and Sandy Hilton in Chicago last December, Physiotherapy techniques for Peyronnies were discussed and indeed, it seems there is a history. So I'm looking for evidence and a protocol before I begin .......eg Daily ultrasound regime for 3 weeks? Traction appliance? ? Cialis medication for 24 hour erectile blood flow? A combo? Finally, I feel, with the combined experience and thought processing of the WHFB page, it may be possible to indeed come up with a protocol of our own...through international 24 hour round table discussion, with hmmm how many PT's now Gerrard & Michelle? PROST! BTW< if you don't know anything about Peyronnies, would really appreciate you looking it up and sharing anything you find.. New areas of Physiotherapy are relevant to all of us! Thanks!

A case of 1st in , best dressed to sit with your mates! Or make new ones.. So looking forward to seeing new faces, visiting a new country and learning lots!

13.01.2022 Hi guys. Somehow we have a FB Men's health page and Group. In order to maximise the group's interaction I will focus all my attentions on the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1563449207204537/ and the page will gradually wind down. Apologies for all the confusion and please please join the group below as I really value your expertise, experience and enthusiasm for Men's Health. PROST Jo

11.01.2022 Welcome to 2015, hoping Men''s Health Physiotherapy FB page blossoms in the next 365 days. I'm lucky enough to be starting my New Year in New York City, the city that never sleeps! Exciting things, people and places met, including PT's Sarah Haag & Sandy Hilton in Chicago and soon to meet the PrivateGyn team in Washington DC... Pleased to also announce Australia's 1st ever, Men's Health Physiotherapy Training Course, run by MEN... and me as the sidekick.More info soon! Meanwhile REST up for a few days then let's hit the road hard for bridging the gaps in Men's Health Physiotherapy!!

10.01.2022 A few years ago I became very interested in Erectile Dysfunction in men following Radical Prostatectomy. Then I came across leaders on the physiotherapy field like Grace Dorey from UK and Talli Rosenbaum from Israel. In 2014 I learnt about Female Sexual Dysfunction from WA's Prof Vivienne Cass...and another whole era arrived.... So it's time to pull it all together...Great news to hand is that Talli Rosenbaum- renowned Sex/ Relationships AND Physical Therapist will be present...ing at #WCPT2015 and then doing a workshop tour of Australia. See info here. Please make sure you get updated in this very important subject as physio's can have a very SIGNIFICANT role to play ... Incidentally, I'm seeing another whole era of patients emerge with issues relating to sexual addictions, pornography & the Internet - even in 14yol kids... & it's certainly not going to go away.. Discussions & knowledge around sexual health are not in our usual physiotherapy skills base , but why not? It's a physical function, has its origins in physiology & exercise science and is all about touch and holistic health care...... So do yourself & your patients a favour and upskill- we are so fortunate to have Talli heading here... Great news I just had to share! See more

09.01.2022 New Health Advisory Service for FIFO workers... A great resource and soon to be launched in Western Australia , a special focus on Men's Health issues.

04.01.2022 Just out, CFA's 'Bridge Magazine' Spring Edition. Can upload on line as a e-flip book. Lots of great Men's & Women's Physiotherapy news...

02.01.2022 Hi all! I've been side-tracked by Conferences and Journal paper submissions for the last few weeks, but the Women's Health Facebook page keeps me constantly updated.. Thanks for all your contributions. Feel free to share anything relevant to both sexes on this page.. Regards, Jo Milios
