25.01.2022 Three experienced mentors sharing their journeys and insights at our recent training weekend for new mentors. Each of them told of how the skills they learned through mentoring helped improve their jobs, their relationships and their lives. Great work fellas! Thank you!
20.01.2022 Have you got life experience and time to invest in helping others? Do you want to become part of a great community? This week is National Volunteer Week, and Menslink are looking for good men from across Canberra to sign up to mentor young guys aged 10-16. As our friends at Volunteering ACT know, volunteering provides a range of benefits for not only the volunteer and the organisation they’re volunteering for, but it also ultimately benefits our whole community. If you want to start making a difference in our community, apply at menslink.org.au/get-involved
19.01.2022 Of course a big shout out to the Canberra Raiders for their ongoing support but also a shout out to anyone who thinks they (or someone they know) might make a good mentor. Demand is through the roof and we need more good men. Don't worry you don't need any particular skills (beyond patience, commitment and empathy), we'll give you lots of training and it's a great way to mix with other blokes across the community while supporting the next generation.....
17.01.2022 Thanks to the great people at Independent, you can help Menslink win $1,000 and all you need to do is like the Menslink gingerbread house!
17.01.2022 What better way to celebrate the end of Volunteers Week than a weekend away in Jindabyne at our annual mentor's retreat? Great spending quality time with these legends! Thank you one and all for all you do for our community
16.01.2022 Find out how to donate here: https://www.allbids.com.au/c/charity-community-auc/menslink We know 2020 has been tough for a lot of businesses, but it has also been tough for a lot of Canberra's young guys, with demand for Menlsink services up 60% on last year. This year instead of asking for your cash, we are seeking donations of items for our ongoing charity auction. All items donated are tax deductable, and we are keeping a running leaderboard of the top donors. The donor with the highest auction outcome will win accommodation at Canberra’s spectacular, award-winning Jamala Wildlife Lodge in the National Zoo & Aquarium Canberra.
14.01.2022 It doesn't matter if you're 23 or 73, at the peak of your career or needing a boost, we'd love to hear from you....
13.01.2022 Preparation underway! #BNO2021
13.01.2022 Thank you Canberra Raiders for your ongoing support. Whether you are at the game this weekend or not, you can go online and get a ticket in the Charity Raffle.
04.01.2022 Our charity auction closes tonight on www.allbids.com.au/menslink - every dollar raised goes to helping young guys and their families across the ACT region
01.01.2022 The wrap up from our Business Breakfast this week and the launch of our impact survey report. We know that building young men's resilience can have flow on effects into other areas of their lives: family relationships, reductions in anti-social behaviour and their ability to manage anger and aggression. These impact studies - with feedback from mums, schools and young guys themselves - back this up too
01.01.2022 Hi everyone I think this year 2020 will probably finish where it started off - with a bunch of anxiety and stress seemingly taking over. Let's face it - it's been a tough year. That said - here at Menslink we've had some wonderful moments in amongst all the hard times. Seeing the Raiders band together with a few of our young blokes to create a special ISO version of our Silence is Deadly campaign on WIN TV, seeing former mentee Luke talk about the turnaround made possible by ...his Menslink mentor, or simply welcoming over a hundred young guys, their families and mentors to our Christmas barbeque this year (our biggest one ever). My Christmas message this year is all about being grateful and how that can help turn dark thoughts into more positive ones. Anxiety and despair into hope. How saying thank you multiplies that effect - it makes you feel good, makes the other person feel good which makes you feel better. So thanks again everyone for being involved with Menslink - for our young guys, their families, their schools and our community. Thanks for being part of our 2020 and here's to a better 2021. Martin Fisk, CEO
