25.01.2022 When I run my Mental Health First Aid training this is one thing I really want my participants to understand. Mental illness is just another illness and when we start looking at it like that and treating it like that it will become so much easier to support those suffering. If someone is sneezing you hand them a tissue. If someone has a broken leg we help them move. If someone is seriously ill we support them with errants and emotional support etc. ... So let's start doing the same with people suffering from a mental illness and they will feel better already just by not being looked at or treated awkwardly. Becoming a Mental Health First Aider will teach you the skills you need to help takie Mental Illness out of its stigmatised darkness and bring it into the light where it gets the attention it needs and deserves. 21.01.2022 I went to listen to a guy a few months ago talking about his experience with his own mental illness and suicidal thoughts. The journey he took and what he had to go through in order to come to a point of acceptance and also manageability by having finally been put on the right medication. He was so incredibly inspiring and has found his strength in his apparent weakness. Speaking at schools and universities, having written a book and working tirelessly for ...Mental health services. He now is married and has started a family and says he is happy with who he is because he cannot change it anyway. I know there are many similar stories around and it just goes to show that there is no reason to be ashamed of who you are because there will always be someone who will be touched and inspired by your story. 14.01.2022 Who can relate to that? I certainly can and since creating more awareness around it I have learned to listen more and more to my inner self and what is important to and for it. 14.01.2022 I love autumn here in Australia. The days are clear and balmy and the nights a crisp. The clouds paint the most amazing pictures in the sky and the ocean invites us for a refreshing swim. When walking in nature I have learnt to observe more of what nature is showing me and take it all in. I find it is so important to really get our heart and mind aligned so that we can feel balanced and make our journey through life in a more relaxed and conscious way.
