24.01.2022 We all have mental health, just as we have physical health! Just as we make time to maintain and nourish our bodies, we must make time to rest our minds. From reading a book, petting a furry friend or simply taking time to reflect - how do you like to take a break?
23.01.2022 What if we talked about physical health the absurd way we talk about mental health?
22.01.2022 Hi Everyone Have you ever been worried about the mental health of someone you know? With 1 in 5 people suffering from some form of mental illness we would all know someone impacted. Do you know what to say, or how to help them? We are running a mental health first aid course in Heidelberg in late June that will answer all of those questions. Numbers are limited so please think about registering. Send us an email or visit out website we would love to see you there.
18.01.2022 Recent research from NASUWT shows that, although 98% of teachers have come into contact with pupils who are experiencing mental health issues, just 46% have rec...eived training in children's mental health. Our Youth MHFA course is designed to address this gap by providing school staff with the skills and confidence to spot common signs and triggers of mental health issues, and enabling them to guide a young person to the appropriate support. 02.01.2022 You don't need to be directly involved in a tragedy to feel its effects. Digital media means we witness terrorist attacks, wars, accidents and natural disasters... as they happen through our phones and TVs. And while the news helps us to stay informed about what’s going on, it can be overwhelming and distressing especially for kids. It’s pretty much impossible to shield children completely from upsetting news. And keeping things secret can add to their sense of anxiety and sadness when they do come across snippets of info. Your best option is to take an interest in what kids are seeing and reading, and support them to understand what’s happening. It's also important to take care of yourself and allow yourself to feel; it’s a normal reaction. For more tips on talking about scary stuff in the news, visit: bb.org.au/2ryEGaO
