18.01.2022 Wellbeing is a hot topic everywhere. Around the world, organisations, governments and people are talking about, reading about and trying to learn how to improve wellbeing. But what impact does wellbeing actually have on our work? At the Wellbeing Lab we are passionate about understanding wellbeing, and our research has enabled us to demonstrate the impact wellbeing has on employee performance, commitment and engagement. In August 2020, curious and concerned about the impact b...oth the Australian bushfires and then the global pandemic has had on Australian worker wellbeing, we again surveyed 1400 Australian workers. Curious to hear what we found? The results are thought-provoking. Join us, as we chat with Dr. Michelle McQuaid (MAPP) to learn how you can put wellbeing on the organisational agenda and shift from awareness to action. 18.01.2022 Some clear advice thanks to Action for Happiness! 1. Listen to the experts Leading health authorities tell us that our actions now can reduce the burden on the healthcare systems and help save lives. We all need to respond.... 2. Keep calm (but don't carry on) In light of the latest expert advice, avoid non-essential face-to-face gatherings for the time being to help slow the spread of the virus. 3. Make wise & kind choices We can all help to reduce the impact of this virus by looking after our own health, washing our hands, self-isolating if needed and being kind and considerate to others.

14.01.2022 When teaching Mental Health First Aid this is the underlying theme. Being unwell affects how you function, both Mental and Physical health included.

14.01.2022 Ending the working week and last day of July with the August Action for Happiness calendar. 13.01.2022 How do your workers feel about working from home? What about returning to work? Only 7.7% of workers who continue to work from home reported feeling complet...ely satisfied with their working arrangements. Despite this, only 38.8% of workers currently working at home reported feeling positive about returning to their work premises. However, those workers who reported feeling more satisfied working from home and those who reported feeling positive about returning to work, statistically were more likely to have higher levels of change ability, change motivation and psychological safety. When it comes to helping workers navigate unusual challenges such as changes in their working conditions providing workers with the knowledge, tools and support to more confidently navigate change may be a worthwhile investment. . 09.01.2022 I love this visual in supporting us to refrain judging others when their behaviour is outside of what we consider 'normal' or 'acceptable'. Asking R U OK? is an important and simple question that can open a door for someone to share their struggle and allow you to listen and provide support. The message this year is 'there is more to say after RUOK' but often we aren't sure what to say, check out their resources or consider Mental Health First Aid training for your workplace. #ruok #mentalhealthfirstaid #worldsuicidepreventionday #workplacewellbeing

09.01.2022 It's World Kindness Day today. A few ideas to try: - send an uplifting text to a friend or colleague - reach out to a friend you haven't spoken to in a while - let that guy into the traffic with a wave and a smile - treat someone to a coffee, maybe even a stranger... Have fun! See more

08.01.2022 I loved this, so many great messages. Easy one to implement is the idea of the 3 S's. Sight - what do you see that brings you peace, what sounds do you hear and what smells (scents) can you have in your environment that bring calm.
