21.01.2022 Who is Mental Health Response for? This is our signature workshop; a hands-on, practical first aid response workshop to help you support someone experiencing mental health issues. This workshop can benefit:... Managers and coaches of sporting teams. Sporting teams. Sporting staff such as physios, massage therapists, trainers and medical teams. Anyone working in a high-pressure job. Mid-senior level management teams. Sound like you? Feel free to send us a message if you'd like to help your team perform at their peak (and feel good doing it).
20.01.2022 I want people to know they aren't alone." A very honest Greg Inglis opens up about his struggles with mental health on Australian Story
20.01.2022 Let's have honest and frank discussions about suicide. One of the biggest issues we are facing in the fight for mental health is that suicide is a taboo topic and people are afraid to reach out for help. That's what we want to change. ... Who's with me?
20.01.2022 #MentalHealthFAQs | "What defines good mental health and can negative emotions still be considered a part of good mental health?" Debbie's Answer: Good mental health is a sense of wellbeing and allows us to enjoy life. Good mental health is the ability to cope with lifes stressors and manage our feelings and emotions. We mostly enjoy good mental health but life events cause us to experience poor mental health. Poor mental health is the feelings we have when we are stressed, ...exhausted, sad or overwhelmed. Things like stress or negative emotions impact our feelings and make us feel down. We all experience negative emotions. It is how we manage them that is key. If we are unable to manage our negative emotions then we can we slide into a mental health disorder where we can become overwhelmed by our negative thoughts. If we are able to recognise our negative emotions and address them then negative emotions can still be considered a part of good mental health.
19.01.2022 When was the last time you just stopped and did something for you? It's so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of looking after our families, pulling our weight at work or on the field, or being there for our team. But we can't give our all to helping others until we help ourselves first. ... Investing some time in a little self-care goes a long way. Just try it and watch how other things suddenly become easier. It could be as simple as getting a haircut that makes you feel confident, rounding up your mates for a weekend trip or finding 30 minutes a day to just stop and do something you really enjoy (bonus points if that happens to involve exercise!).
18.01.2022 What are your go-to strategies to help improve a tough mental health day?
17.01.2022 #MentalHealthFAQs | How do I prevent poor mental health? Debbie's Answer: There are many strategies to maintaining good mental health. One strategy that we highly recommend is practicing gratitude. The science tells us that taking time each day to see something positive in our lives changes the brain's neuropathways. Importantly, it is important to practice this when we feel mentally well so it becomes a habit when we are feeling not so mentally well. We practice gratitude every day by appreciating 3 things that we are thankful and grateful for for waking up each morning and taking 3 deep breaths, for seeing the sun in the sky and seeing different colours each morning and for the good people we have around us who support us and help us when we ask for help.
17.01.2022 Repeat after us: mental health is just as important as physical health. Have a listen to this testimonial from one of our clients, Steve Corica, Sydney FC Head Coach: At Sydney FC we focus our success on four pillars Technical, Tactical, Physical, Mental.... In terms of the mental pillar one of the initiatives we undertook was for all our coaching and backroom staff to undergo mental health training which was provided by mental health Management. Debbie delivered the training in a very professional manner. It was engaging, easy to understand and it gave us the tools and confidence to take the first steps in dealing with any mental health issues. Steve Corica, Head Coach Sydney FC
16.01.2022 We asked Roger Fabri, Australia's #1 Sprint Coach, what he would say to other sports professionals to help keep their head in the game | "Never ever give up because the sun will always shine someday, somehow, and youll find what works for you. Persist because life can be good, youve just got to persevere at it. And if its medication thats going to get you to smile, so what? Go for it, dont suffer alone. Get the help you need as thats what its there for. Ive done it and Im living proof it can work." 15.01.2022 his year's theme is "there's more to say after R U OK?", and we love to see this focus on keeping the conversation going. Knowing how to support someone who confides in you is important not only for you to be able to truly help them, but you'll also feel more confident starting the conversation if you are prepared. Our Mental Health Response course helps you have that conversation.
13.01.2022 Do you have a favourite place to go and clear your head?
12.01.2022 Nature offers so many lessons. From its beauty, unpredictability, resilience and so much more, we can draw parallels to life and mental health. Nature sustains change, volatility and vulnerability and we often find ourselves admiring and appreciating its magnificence, even in its turbulence. It provides us with a visualisation of hope. No matter how dark or heavy the clouds of depression may feel, there is sunshine in the distance. As tough as that can feel sometimes it is there for us to behold.

10.01.2022 PHYSICAL ISOLATION NOT SOCIAL ISOLATION Many of us are physically isolated from our loved ones, our friends, our colleagues or our community right now. Isolation has a negative impact on our mental health and provides a space for negative thoughts, including suicidal thoughts. It is vital to connect socially but not physically. Here are some ideas... phone people send a text to check in on your friends or family house party the app that allows you to video chat, play games and more without actually leaving your house Zoom video conferencing for family and friends or work colleagues take up some of the many at home social media challenges running right now Whats App organise family and friend groups together and check in call Lifeline Please connect more than ever before and dont let anyone feel isolated!

03.01.2022 Dan's story | "The two things I've learnt is, only focus on whats in your control and what you can do to be your best. [My coach] Wayne Bennet got me to focus on two things during each game tackle and run as hard as I could for every carry, and in defence, get off the line straight and hard. They are the only two things I focused on and as a result, my stress levels came right down. Not worrying about other unnecessary stuff made my anxiety disappear." 02.01.2022 What do these stats tell us? You are not alone. Think about the 10 or 15 closest men in your life: friends, family, teammates, colleagues...... If you think you might be experiencing depression or anxiety, odds are at least one other person you know is too. In reality, it's probably way more than that. So if you feel like no one will understand what you're going through, well, they might just prove you wrong. Remember, you're never too tough to talk. Speaking up is the bravest thing you can do.
